【beBiter’s Select】Contents Recommended to Team Members by CCO Yasufumi FUJII

“beBiter’s Select” is a series in which we have beBit members recommend “3” contents of their choosing according to a theme. The medium of the content can be anything from books, music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, to anything of their choosing!

For the first installment, we had the author of the “After Digital” series and head of the MCO (which creates and sends out content often), Yasufumi FUJII tell us about the “contents he would recommend for his team members.”
※Most of the content recommended are available exclusively in Japanese. The translations of the titles may not be the official titles.

■Self-introduction
Hello. I’m Yasufumi FUJII.
A lot of people see me as a tech-trendy person because of the “After Digital” series, but who I really am is a person who enjoys writing, creating music, and making videos.

First Recommended Content:

Book: 『推しエコノミー』 (Stan Economy)

Reason:
I feel this book is the cultural version of “After Digital”. The changes beBit always talks about is happening to culture (or rather, starts from culture). Reading this book, I felt  “‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ was UX Growth as well!”

If I am to publish another book, I want to title it “The Age of Action.” This book states “The age of Moe is over, and the age of Oshi (Stan) has come.” We are no longer in the era of passively receiving feelings of “moe,” as we’ve moved forward into the era of “Oshi” in which we actively act and recommend things to others. Seriously, you need to read this book!

Second Recommended Content:

Podcast: 『ゆる言語学ラジオ』 (Lax Linguistics Radio)

Reason:
In addition to “Yuru Gengogaku Radio,” I would also recommend the “Koten Radio” and “Off Topic” podcasts. When it comes to content, audio has become rather mainstream since Covid struck.  There are many things we can learn from these podcasts, varying from creating content to creating communities as well.

While I talk about podcasts and audio content, it’s important to see these outlets as “content/IP” rather than “media.”

You can really see the plans behind the podcasts mentioned above by considering “how the media is being used.” From the perspectives of sharing, perspectives of business and monetization, the perspective of relationship building, and from the perspective of UX, I feel that while it is not on a large scale, they have a working UX growth model. I’d like to work on more projects like this as well.

Third Recommended Content:

Book: 『K-POPはなぜ世界を熱くするのか』 (Why K-POP is Popular Worldwide)

Reason:
This is related to the two contents above. Most fan creation mechanisms and the UX Growth Model are almost identical, meaning K-POP is also on that list. This book explains how people get hooked on K-POP very simply. If you indulge yourself in K-POP, you can experience what’s written in the book as well!

Also, while not completely related, Japanese people have been very popular in the K-POP scene recently.

Bonus Question

■Lastly, we asked for a single most recommended content regardless of the theme!

Content:

Marvel Cinematic Universe series

Reason:
Well, this series is currently dominating the world’s box office rankings. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend catching up as soon as possible. You may think it’s just a superhero series, but a simple superhero story wouldn’t be able to become this popular throughout the world.

Recently, we can see Marvel is growing their fanbase worldwide through their cultural content - Black Panther includes African culture, Shang-Chi includes Asian culture, and Moon Knight includes Arab culture.

I’m stating all these complicated things, but in the end I also really enjoy the content. I cried so hard during “Spider-man: No Way Home” (while it can be argued that it’s not a part of the MCU…) that I was sobbing. I’d love to talk about it with anyone who’s seen it.
