About Mr. Tsuyoshi Kamimura, a senior freelancer

Mr. Kamimura appeared on our live webcast as a guest speaker in April.
I first met Mr. Uemura more than 10 years ago at an art company.
Mr. Kamimura already had a unique view of the world, was funny in a more passionate and intense way than he is now, and was a senior colleague whom I could rely on in my work.
At that time, we often went out for drinks together after work and watched the seniors, including Mr. Kamimura, engage in heated discussions.
They were so passionate, weren't they?
We always ended up fighting in the end.

Profile of Mr. Kamimura
After graduating from a design-related art university, he began his creative activities. After working for an apparel company and a video art company in Tokyo, he became a freelancer. In the fall of 2020, he moved from Tokyo to Amami Oshima with Corona Disaster.

The day's virtual live-streaming will be available on YouTube, so be sure to check it out!

There was a morning when I thought (and realized) that I was a painter.
I was able to go beyond time.
Thirst" regarding creation.
As long as I have soil, I can live.
The Tower of the Sun said to me, "I'll leave the rest to you.
The construction of a new standard of value.

During the live stream, he left us with many quotes that we were interested in.
I was really impressed when he said that there was a morning when he realized that he was already an artist (expressive person), although he is not able to make a living from painting now.

This is precisely the second time that Mr. Kamimura has become a freelance artist, but after experiencing life as a company employee, he decided that he would like to manage his own work and work according to his own abilities from now on, rather than being given work.
With the support of the government as part of the anti-Corona measures, my move to Amami was well-timed, and I was able to make connections with vendors in Amami and get on-site work that made use of my past experience.
As for his artist activities, he would like to resume his activities in Tokyo once he has more and more works.
In fact, he says that living frugally on the island has given him a moderate "thirst" and has kept him well-informed and in good balance for creating artworks.
Also, he told me that building the tower is a mission, not an end goal.

As for school, even if you think schoolwork is useless, it is important to try to do as you are told and to know what is being transmitted. When you realize that you can learn even from places that don't interest you, it fosters curiosity. I want students to keep moving even if there is nothing they want to do while they are still students. I hope that students will keep moving, even if they don't have a specific goal in mind.

Mr. Kamimura didn't face the front at all.

Mr. Kamimura has his own philosophy, and he is a person who has the ability to get people involved.
Ah, but actually it may be the opposite, he has the power to get involved.

When I went to an apparel company for an interview, they were not looking for the type of job Mr. Kamimura wanted, but when they saw my resume, they were interested and called me in for an interview. Or, when he did a street performance (painting) in Shimokita for an event, the president of the design company who invited him liked Mr. Kamimura and wanted to support his study abroad. People are attracted by Mr. Kamimura's charm, and people regularly come up to him to get involved.
Perhaps that is why we approached Mr. Kamimura for the first live-streaming session with our guest.
Mr. Kamimura told us that he was convinced he would not be understood, but in fact, he was surrounded by people who supported him. Networking is very important for freelancers, but I think it is Mr. Kamimura's talent to build relationships that are more than just work-related.
I think it is typical of Mr. Kamimura that the local people care about him in Amami and that he already has his own role there.
I am sure that he will continue to shape the things he wants to do and the ideas he has, and that he will find friends who will cooperate with him in the future.

I hope you will continue to tell us many stories as you create your works.
How will Kamimura's ideas take shape?
I also look forward to seeing what kind of things you will get involved in in the future.
I'll continue to support Mr. Kamimura's writers' activities and let him get involved!
