TEENS Kesuke-san's "Developmental Disabilities x Metaverse" AVOS Application Example|Question corner

Hello. In my previous articles, I have introduced an example of AVOS utilization at TEENS Kesuke-san, an educational division of Kaien Inc. It was a very informative story that gave us many ideas and future expectations on how we can utilize the Metaverse to support developmental disabilities.

Now, in this final article in our series of interviews with Kesuke, we present you with the questions and answers we received during the live webcast! The interview regarding this article is also available on YouTube. Please take a look if you like. (Click here to watch the full version of the video)

Developmental Disabilities x Metaverse Compatibility

While we were waiting for your questions in the interview room, Kesuke-san made some additional comments.

"We feel that children with developmental disabilities are a good match for the Metaverse. I would like to see the Metaverse at the TEENS Shigoto Mirai Juku, and I think it would be interesting to see how other educational institutions could use the Metaverse to support children with developmental disabilities. I hope that other educational institutions will use the Metaverse to provide support from an interesting point of view."

We hope that AVOS will be used in a variety of educational settings!

Q . Are there any attacks or vandalism against others?

"Do you have any attacks or vandalism against other participants in your classrooms?" We received this question. Let's take a look at Kesuke-san's answer.

A . At first there was. I don't know if I would describe it as vandalism, but the graffiti feature was just too much fun! There was so much graffiti that it took up the entire classroom, and there were so many objects (that the children uploaded into the virtual classroom) that we couldn't get inside. Now we are limiting the functionality.

There are no attacks, but I think it is one of the good things about the Metaverse that it is worthwhile to play pranks. I would like to play with this kind of doodle function.

Q . Are the classrooms decorated?

Next, "Do you also decorate your classrooms?" Next is the question, "Do you also decorate the classroom? Let's take a look at Kesuke-san's answer.

A . We have not decorated the classroom yet, but are using the default classroom as it is. I would like to know how to decorate. It would be great fun to decorate for Christmas and other seasons.

You can upload various data such as photos, videos, and 3D objects to the virtual classroom and decorate them in any position you like. You can upload data you have taken yourself, or search the Internet to find a variety of free and paid data, so please try your hand at decorating and creating an original space.

Incidentally, AVOS recently held a Virtual School Festival in collaboration with AOIKE High School's Aogaku Festival. For this event, we used smartphones to scan 3D statues on the actual campus and decorated the virtual classroom with the scanned data. Many photos were also displayed. Please click the link below to access the Virtual School Festival site. If you are interested, please try it for yourself.

Q . What devices do the participating children use, do they use VR goggles?

Finally, "What devices will the participating children be using, and will they be using VR goggles?" Please tell us about it, Kesuke-san.

A . We have not used VR goggles yet. If we did, it would be more immersive. Devices are mostly computers, with a few smartphones and tablets here and there.

It seems that children are participating on all devices. As time goes on, we may see more children using VR goggles to participate. I look forward to the future development of this event.

A final word from Kesuke-san

Now, the hour-long virtual interview is quickly coming to an end. I would like to end this interview with a few words from Mr. Kesuke.

Keisuke-san's presentation slide excerpt 12

I think there is a great synergy between Metaverse and support for children with developmental disabilities. If you have a child with a developmental disability in your family, or if you have a child who has not been diagnosed but is in the gray zone, I think you will see a different side of your child if you use our program (TEENS by Kaien Co., Ltd.). Thank you for your cooperation.

TEENS after-school daycare service and Shigoto Mirai Juku are always open for information sessions and trial sessions. If you are interested in our services, we would be happy to have you try them out at any time. As for the Mirai Juku, you do not need to be diagnosed with a developmental disability to use the service. Thank you very much.

At the end.

Thank you very much for your very, very valuable talk, Kesuke-san! This time we had a virtual interview on the very interesting theme of "developmental disabilities x education x metaverse". We hope you enjoyed the article.

We hope that many people will read and refer to Kesuke-san's story, as it is full of ideas that could be adopted not only for children with developmental disabilities, but also in education and the workplace. Please refer to the following links for information on TEENS, the educational division of Kaien Corporation, to which Kesuke-san belongs. Thank you very much for reading to the end.
