III.7: The emperor-philosopher tells us that there is no profit for our character in doing things that require lying, being hypocritical, or otherwise damage our integrity.

ここ(en)でMeditation 12巻が読めるので、III.７の始めを書き出してみます。

Never value anything as profitable to thyself which shall compel thee to break thy promise, to lose thy self-respect, to hate any man, to suspect, to curse, to act the hypocrite, to desire anything which needs walls and curtains:  (...)

あなたにとって有益などと思わないでください。以下のようなことをあなたに強いるようなものは。
・約束を破る
・自尊心を失う
・人を憎む　疑う　呪う
・偽善者を演じる
・壁やカーテンを必要とする

これらは、私たちが人生を通過する際に中心のかなめとなります。

道徳哲学へのこのアプローチは、人の性格に焦点をあてています。

ある行動を起こす前に、その行動は正しいか・間違っているか、自分に問うてみましょう。

最後の、「壁やカーテンを必要とする」について。
他の人に知られたくないことをやろうとしているなら、多分しない方が良いことでしょう。
