【FILM PHOTOGRAPHY】

The vast majority of our photography has been taken with film cameras. The images are not always the best, but we like the unique character of film. You never know how a picture will come out until you get it developed.  In a way, it emphasizes the mystique and charm of Tokyo. Our current line up of cameras include CANON Demi EE17, OLYMPUS-35 EC 2, and ILFORD SPRITE 35-II FILM.

【ABOUT US】

Ai and Pat, an international couple living on the western side of the 23 wards of Tokyo. Together, we conduct interviews, take film photos, and self publish ANDTOKYO zine.

Ai

Ai, a Kawasaki native who attended school in Tokyo and majored in British and American literature, mainly handles design and translation for ANDTOKYO. Upon her graduation, she worked as a freelance interpreter and guide, founded a local community "Tokyo Hidden Gems", and organized her own original tours as an Airbnb experience host. Currently, she works as a writer and buyer for a plant media and e-commerce company while studying interior design. Although she no longer works directly in tourism, she has refocused her passion for introducing Tokyo's hidden gems into ANDTOKYO. In her free time she enjoys tending to her vast assortment of plants, visiting museums, and collecting antiques.

Pat

Pat, a Boston native who majored in Asian History and Asian Studies, is mainly in charge of content production and editing for ANDTOKYO. His passion for Tokyo led him here during university and back again after graduation for work as an English teacher. Inspired by the energy of young Japanese bands coming to Tokyo to make it big, he decided to do the same. After ten years, nothing too exciting has happened, yet. Still, he is determined to provide a platform for people who have a story to tell and express their love for Tokyo. His hobbies include listening to music, reading, and cultural commentary. He has a passion for odd but cute animals and Japanese sweets.

Although neither of us are real Edoko, or local Tokyo people, we greatly admire and appreciate it. We hope we can give readers insight on the power of Tokyo to influence people to do great things through our zines.
