花のある生活　Life with flowers

お家時間が長くなったこの一年、お部屋にお花を飾るように心がけています。

大学時代フランス語の授業で、フランス人の先生が

”見た目は大事よ！”

そしたらアメリカ人の生徒が

”見た目で判断してはいけないよ！”

と、確かにね。そうですが。。。そしたら先生が

”でもね、みんなきれいなお花がお部屋にあったらみるでしょ？みんなきれいなお花は好きでしょ？”

と。ごもっともですね。人間自然と美しい物に目が惹かれ、それを見ると心が潤います。

（その生徒さんはその後黙り込んでしまいました　笑。。。）

とフランス語よりもこの一連の会話を一番覚えている私ですが、このご時世、狭い部屋にずっといるとやはりきれいな物に触れていたくなります。

心の潤いを求めて、一輪挿しでもよいのでお花を飾るようにしています。クラシックを聴きながら、きれいなお花を眺めれば、不思議と心が穏やかになり、お家でも優雅な気分が味わえます。

最近はスーパーやお花屋さんでも気軽に安価でお花が買えますし、お花のサブスクリプションのサービスもあるようです。

ぜひお花のある生活も楽しんでみてください。

For the past last year, I have been trying to have flowers in my room.

I remember in my French class in a college, my French professor said "Looks are important!"

then one of the American student immediately respond 

"You cannot judge the book by its cover"

Well, exactly... then my French professor replied 

"But if there are beautiful flowers in a room, you will look at them right? Everyone likes beautiful flowers!”

I cannot agree more... we are naturally wired for pretty things. By looking at them our minds are replenished. 

(by the way, that American student didn't say anything back to her after)

I remember more of this story in the class rather than French itself, because I totally agreed with her!!! Especially, with the recent challenging situation, and being stuck in my small room, I am thirsty for pretty things.

Therefore, I try to keep having even a single flower or inexpensive flowers in my room. Listening beautiful classical music and looking at those pretty flowers make me feel much calmer, and I can feel as if I am at an elegant place.

Recently, you can buy flowers at grocery stores or flower shops for less, and there are also subscription services for flowers too.

Please enjoy your life with pretty flowers as well.
