辺り一面が真っ白になったと思ったや否や、気がつくと、天から青く眩しい光が差し込み、私は思わず、目を瞑ってしまった。
すると、何か、身体が温かくなってきたように感じた。
今までの重い身体の疲労と感情が、泡のように溶けていったのだ。
優しい光を求めて瞼を開くと、眼の前に、清廉で、しかし威厳を帯びた一人の少女が佇んでいた。
彼女はこちらに視線を合わせ、こう呟いたのだ。
「死の先を逝く者たちよ…私と共に、征こう。」
話に聞いたことがある。
神界に潜む戦乙女は、死が近づいた人間に近づき、適正ある勇者の魂を神界へ導くのだと。
眼の前にいる彼女こそまさに、戦乙女が世を忍ぶ仮の姿だった。
そう、私は神界へ、導かれたのだ。
この先に永遠の安寧など無いとも知らずに。
