大学教員には簡単になれない。

　連日猛暑が続いていますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。私は洗濯物がすぐ乾くので家の中でウキウキしています。

　さて、最近大学教員になるための方法について記載された記事を見ました。そこには博士号を取ってから大学教員になるのは難しいが、実務経験やコネ等を活用すればなれるといったようなことが書いてあったかと思います。（飛ばし読みなので、記憶が曖昧です。）恐らく、このような記事を何度か見かけましたが誤解を生むかもしれないので、改めて私の意見を述べておきます。

　まず大学教員になるには、博士号があった方が断然有利です。うちの大学でもこれから博士号を取得する予定の教員が結構います。博士号取得を考慮して授業のコマ数を少し少な目にしているとの話を、先日別の先生から聞いたときは思わず「はぁっ？」と言ってしまいました。私はバリバリ仕事をしながら博士号を取得した人間です。職場には一切大学院に行っていることは伏せていたので、常に夜中に論文を書いてそのままほとんど寝ずに仕事をしていたことも度々でした。そんな私からすると「何を甘えたこと言ってるの？」と思ってしまいます。つまり、博士号を取得しようという強い意志があれば取得できる方法はあります。まずは、そこから逃げずに立ち向かってほしいと思います。

　後、これも何度も記事に書いていますが、JREC-INの公募情報をチェックすることが大事です。私もここから情報を得て今の職場に就職しました。とにもかくにも大学教員になるには、博士号を取得して公募情報をチェックし、学会で研究発表をやり続けることが一番の近道だと私は思います。

　変に実務さえ頑張っていれば大学教員になれるみたいな表現は本当に止めてほしいと思います。そんな簡単に大学教員にはなれません。「博士後取得」「公募情報収集＆応募」「学会発表」の３つを続けるしか大学教員にはなれないことをみなさんには知ってほしいです。私も働いたときは今の仕事を一生懸命やっていれば、その功績が認められて大学教員になれるのではないかという淡い期待を持っていた時期もありました。しかし、実際にはそれは宝くじに当たるぐらい可能性が低いことが大学教員になって知りました。

　これから大学教員になる人には、変な記事に惑わされることなく大学教員になるための王道を歩み続けてほしいと思います。

It is not easy to become a university teacher.

Well, I recently saw an article about how to become a university teacher. I think it was written that it is difficult to become a university teacher after obtaining a doctorate, but you can make use of practical experience and connections. (I'm skipping reading, so my memory is vague.) I have probably seen this kind of article several times, but it may cause misunderstanding, so I would like to express my opinion again.

First of all, to become a university teacher, it is definitely advantageous to have a doctorate. In our university, there are many teachers who are going to obtain a doctorate from now on. When I heard from another teacher the other day that they were reducing the number of classes in consideration of obtaining a doctorate, I honestly said, "HUH?". I am a person who earned a doctorate while working hard. I didn't tell anyone at work that I was going to graduate school, so I would often write papers in the middle of the night and work without sleeping. From my point of view, I think, "What are you talking about?". In other words, there are ways to get a PhD if you have a strong will to do so. First of all, I want them to face the situation without running away from it.

Also, I have written about this many times in the article, but it is important to check the information of JREC-IN. I got information from here and got a job at my current workplace. In any case, I think the quickest way to become a university teacher is to obtain a doctorate degree, check information on applications, and continue to present research at conferences.

I really want you to stop saying that if you work hard, you can become a university teacher. You can't become a university teacher that easily. I want everyone to know that the only way to become a university teacher is to continue to do three things: "obtain a doctoral degree," "collect information and apply for applications from applicants," and "present at academic conferences.". When I worked, I also had a faint expectation that if I worked hard at my current job, I would be recognized for my achievements and become a university teacher. However, as a university teacher, I learned that it was unlikely that I would actually win the lottery.

I want people who are going to become university teachers to continue the royal road to becoming university teachers without being misled by strange articles.
