How Far Is It To Bethlehem?

イギリスの１６、７世紀頃のメロディにイギリスの女流詩人Frances Chesterton (1875～1938)の詩がつけられ、
キングス・カレッジ・クワイヤの名指揮者であったDavid Willcocksが編曲しました。イエス誕生のシーンには,幼子イエス、母マリア、ヨセフ、動物達、遠くからやって来た羊飼い、東の国の博士等が登場します。今回やって来たのは子供達です。マリアに優られ、イエスさまのベッドで安心して眠るように促されます。

Not very far.

Shall we find the stableroom

Lit by a star?

Is he within?

If we lift the wooden latch

May we go in?

May we stroke the creatures there,
