Hello everyone.
Yesterday, we successfully kicked off the online program PEKALONGAN WEB CAMP2.

I hope this program will help us to think about what we can do for the world's environmental problems, especially climate change, by connecting Japan and Indonesia online.

Now, in this article, I would like to give you a preview of the theme of the second day of the program, "Youth Awareness and Volunteer Activities in PEKALONGAN," and the content of the project.

This program is co-organized by NICE Japan International Work Camp Center and GREAT Indonesia, NGOs. For more information, please see the press release.

Check-in

You will be asked to write a brief comment on 'today's topic' in the chat box.
Check-in is "a technique in which all participants take time to share a few words about themselves at the beginning and end of the discussion in order to adjust their feelings".

Review of Day 1

Since this online program has partial participation, each time we will have time to summarize the previous activity.
I will give you a compact report on the activities of the first day, which were very exciting. It would be great if we could get some comments from the participants.

SNS Activity

In the international work camps where we visit the sites, we move our bodies and do physical work. In the past, volunteer participants who have visited the site have done mangrove nursery construction, tree planting work, and educational activities for the local youth.
For this online program, we decided to rethink the definition of "work" and focus on public relations activities that can be done from home. We will be targeting Instagram and Tiktok, the social networking sites that the youth we want to reach are using on a daily basis to get our message out.

Energizer

In preparation for the second half of the session, we will take a break to do an energizing activity. I'm preparing my favorite activity that is short but can be a lot of fun.

Discussion

We will have a time to think about young people's attitudes towards volunteering. After listening to a short inspirational talk, break into groups and discuss what you feel. Let's record what we talked on Google JAM Board.

Event Planning

On the third day of PEKALONGAN WEB CAMP2, we will organize "Mangrove Youth Summit 3", an online event for youth in Japan and Indonesia to discuss the development of the next generation.
Let's split up and prepare for the event by moderating, introducing social networking projects, etc., and make it a success!
