Cooperated in the exhibition "Unveiling Tutankhamen: The Pharaoh's Timeless Adolescence" at Kadokawa Culture Museum
Coincidentally, last year marked the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's royal tomb. Various studies continue to be conducted on the pyramids and ancient Egyptian civilization, and Discoveries are being made one after another. Against this backdrop, the Kadokawa Culture Museum is holding “Unveiling Tutankhamen: The Pharaoh's Timeless Adolescence”
The concept is "HISTORY is STORY!"
Through the exhibits and videos, visitors can relive what Tutankhamun thought and how he lived while imagining his life. The exhibition is supervised by Yukinori Kawae, an Egyptian archaeologist and associate professor at the Nagoya University School of Advanced Studies. He is an up-and-coming researcher who specializes in the study of the Egyptian pyramids and has appeared on numerous TV programs and is involved in joint research with WORLD SCAN PROJECT. The space was designed by Anri Jojo, an art director who won the Japan Academy Award for Best Art Direction for the films “Always: Sunset on Third Street” and “Eternal Zero”. The music director is Kenji Kawai, who composed the music for the theatrical versions of “Mobile Police Patlabor” and “Ghost in the Shell”.
WORLD SCAN PROJECT is providing 3D scan data and images for this experiential exhibition that brings together experts from various fields. The “super replicas” which include a golden mask and a huge coffin, and of which there are only three sets in the world, are exhibited in a large space.
Ichikawa directed and edited the images projected on the walls and floor as a digital artist. The images have been well received by visitors, who can trace the transition of the gods from their creation in ancient Egypt and feel the life of Tutankhamun with their whole body, immersing them in a deep sense of immersion.
Also planned during the exhibition is “TUTANKHAMUN METAVERSE” using Metaverse, NFT art, and AR.
Metaverse is a “virtual space” where people can enjoy exchanges and services on the Internet. Currently, in the “MetaPlayer1.0 World” metaverse provided by ZEXAVERSE, an affiliate of THE WORLD SCAN PROJECT, visitors can enjoy an Egyptian world using elaborate 3D scan data created by WORLD SCAN PROJECT for a limited time only. Visitors can fully enjoy Egypt in a virtual space, freely exploring the full-scale ruins and closely examining the golden mask and other Tutankhamun burial accessories at the museum in the Metaverse.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a stamp rally-style event is currently underway, where visitors can earn NFT cards featuring Tutankhamun's burial accessories as they tour the exhibition. By scanning the QR codes placed near the exhibits in the venue, visitors can take home an NFT card that can only be obtained by visitors to the exhibition.
And don't forget to download the AR application “
” to your smartphone when you visit the exhibition site. During the exhibition, a full-size Great Pyramid of Giza can be displayed in AR next to the Kadokawa Culture Museum building, allowing visitors to experience the size of the Great Pyramid through their smartphones. Visitors can also enjoy taking pictures with characters based on Egyptian gods and exploring the Temple of Medinet Habu outside the venue. In the temple, visitors can also observe in detail the pillars decorated with the figures of the gods and the carvings on the walls.
WORLD SCAN PROJECT will continue to preserve numerous ancient legacies as data for future generations and create opportunities for many people to experience these ancient sites and history.
