さて、今日はハエ叩きからの哲学です。
Okay, in today's episode, I would like to talk about the philosophy of fly swatter.

また、何言ってんだと思うのですが、ハエ叩きからいろいろ考えてしまったのでそれを記録として残してみようかと思います。
I know you are wondering 'What are you talking about?' Recently, I have considered deeply about our busy life from the fly swatter. It might be interesting so I will talk about it from now.

オーストラリアって、ハエや虫が多いんですよ。暑いし。
今までは殺虫剤で頑張っていたんですが、キッチンとかであまり使いたくないし、バシーンと仕留められるかなとハエ叩きを買ったんですね。
I am currently living in Australia where there are heaps of flies or bugs as it is too hot. I used to use insect killer but I did not want to use it in the kitchen as it was a spray-type. I mean the spray might be inside of dishes. So I decided to get a fly swatter.

そうしたら、周りに
「え、すごーい。地球にやさしくていいよね！！」
って言われたんですよ。
Then, I was told by people around me like
"That's good for the environment!"

あー。その考えはなかったなぁと思って。
（仕留めることを考えていた私ですからね）
At the time, I thought "Oh I did not consider it in way"
I merely consider how to kill flies easily.

ハエ叩きって、うちの祖母の世代が普通に使っていたものじゃないですか。
環境に優しいとかじゃなくて、「普通」ていうか。
I mean, a fly swatter was  normal for my grandmother's generation.
As I grew up seeing my grandmother using one, I see the fly swatter as a normal household item for me rather than to be an environmentalist.

そこからですね、最近の、
「添加物」問題だとか。
「エコフレンドリー」問題だとかみんないろいろ気にしていますけれど、
Then, I started considering recent trends such as food additives, eco-friendly etc.  

うちの祖母の時代のように。
昭和の初期のように生きればいいので自然とそうなるのでは、、、と思ったんですよ
I feel like we can live like our grandmother's generation. I mean living our life as if we live in the Showa-era.

ちなみに私は子供の頃祖母と同居してたんですが、
うちの祖母は電子レンジや冷凍食品が苦手な人で、
私が高校に入るまで使ってなかったですね。
(それがいいって言っているわけではなく、そうやって生きている人を見てきたという話）
Actually, I lived with my grandmother when I was a child.
My grandmother is not good at artificial things or microwaves.
So I did not have any instant food or use a microwave.
I am not anti-technology or food additives. My intention is I have had a person close to me who does not rely on modern conveniences.

カップラーメンを初めて食べた時の衝撃ったら。
おいしかったなぁ。
I was shocked the first time I had cup noodles. It was sensational.

うちの祖母の時代のようにといいましたが、
現代は忙しいですからね。
I said living like our grandmother's generation is good for these aims, however, I also understand it is impossible as our life is chaotic.

昔のように生きてみたいけど簡単にはできない葛藤のようなものがあるんだなぁと思います。難しいですねぇ。
Some people might want to live like my grandmother, however, there is a conflict that the current situation does not allow us to live that way easily. This issue is so tricky.

はい。ということで、今日のエピソードで私がお伝えしたかったことは、
Anyway, the things I wanted to tell you in this episode are covered in three.

1. ハエ叩きを買ったこと
I bought a fly swatter.

2. そこから、エコフレンドリー・添加物などの最近の流行りの言葉を考えたら、うちの祖母のように生きたらいいんじゃないかと思ったこと
Then, I realised that my grandma's lifestyle might be the hint to solve current trending issues such as how to be eco-friendly or avoid food additives.

3. でも、そんな簡単に物事は進まない忙しい世の中なんだよなぁと思った。といいう話でした。
However, it is actually tricky as our lives have changed dramatically compared to my grandmother's generation.

今日の小噺

insect killer: 殺虫剤
最初 insecticideってかっこいい言葉を使ってみようと思ったんですが、
聞いててわかりにくいなぁ。って思いました。
書いてあって見たら分かる単語と、聞いたらわかる単語て違いますよねぇ。
よく、英会話は中学で習う単語でなんとかなる！と言ったものを目にしますが、確かに会話だと視覚化できないので理解しやすい単語になっていくんだろうなぁなんて思ったのでした。
