野次馬の中に混じり久郎衛(くろえ)を見ていた賞金稼ぎの捕我(とりが)。
捕我と同じ旅芸人の美衣(びい)も感心した様子で久郎衛に話しかけて来た。
街の雰囲気に慣れていない私たちの様子に興味を持った様で、随分色々な質問をされてしまった。
しかし陽気で話好きな性格らしく、旅一座として巡って来たたくさんの国の情報を代わりに教えてくれた。
私と同世代の美衣との会話は私をホッとさせるものがあり、
彼女のおもしろい話の数々に自分の置かれた現状をしばし忘れ楽しんだ。
