About Us
2017年夏、リスナーの方たちが実際に使えるコンテンツを提供したいという気持ちからこのポッドキャストが生まれました。 制作者のジョーとヒロはそれぞれ長い間母国から離れ生活した経験を持ち、英語、日本語両言語に精通し（プロの英語教育者としての高い能力、豊富な経験をもとに、生徒に高い評価を得ています。）ています。今まで主流となっていた週毎に提供されるランダムな会話とは一線を画し、Train Your Englishでは一つのシチュエーション設定からくる会話、話題を初、中上級の３つのレベルに合わせて提供するという他にはないユニークな形をとっています。Train Your Englishのポッドキャストを通してリスナーのより効率の良い英語上達の手助けができたらと思います。詳細は私たちのウェブサイトからどうぞ！ ☆10月からアメリカから来たRachaelさんがTYEの新しいメンバーになりました！

Wow, it’s great to hear from you. What time is it there? Masa : It’s 9:30 a.m. It’s 7:30 in the evening your time , right? Lisa : Actually it’s half past 6 . You know, Daylight Saving Time ends in November. Masa : Oh, I see. Are you busy now? Lisa : No, not at all. Just watching TV. So, do you still live in Tokyo? Masa : Actually, no. I don’t live there anymore . I moved to Chiba, near the airport. I have a new job. Lisa : I see. What do you do now? Masa : I work for an IT company. I’m in sales. Lisa : Cool! What do you think about your new job? Masa : I like it so far . To be honest , it’s a bit challenging but people are friendly and it’s an interesting job. Lisa : That’s great! Masa : How about you? What have you been up to lately ? Lisa : Well, I got a promotion ! Masa : Wow! Congratulations ! Wait, what was your job? I’m so sorry. I have the memory of a goldfish. Lisa : Haha! It’s ok! 005 Intermediate - Giving an Update
ユウジとビルはダイアンの下でゲーム制作会社に勤めています。彼らは東京ゲームショーへの初めての出店に向かって準備をしています。どうやらビルの広告部門は上手く行っているようですが、ユウジ担当のブースデザインはなかなかそうではないようです。 台本 Dian: Guys, thank you so much for coming in on such short notice. Yuji: No problem. I heard you have been called for a board meeting at headquarters. Bill: Yeah, do you know what it’s about? Dian: Actually, I have no idea. Unfortunately, I won't be back until next Tuesday, which is why I have asked you two to come in and give me updates on Tokyo Game Show. Yuji: Of course. How much time do we have today? Dian: Until 11:30. I’ll have to leave here at a quarter to noon for a luncheon with Mr. Findley. Bill: OK, that’s plenty of time. I’ll go first, if you don’t mind, Yuji. Well, as far as the advertising goes, everything is coming together except the flyer. Dian: What’s the problem? Bill: Well, we initially designed it to fit Half Letter size but we have to modify it a bit to fit International A5. I’ll email it to the printer as soon as it’s ready, which should be in a couple of hours. Dian: Good. Make sure they will have mailed the sample here to the office by the time I return, please. Yuji, anything from you...our booth at the show? Yuji: Besides the decision to outsource the design for our booth, which we made at the previous meeting, I must say there hasn’t been much progress to report. We will discuss our image and the specifics with the firm tomorrow. Obviously, it’s not moving as quickly as we hoped. Dian: Well, at least it’s moving somewhere now. Please do keep me posted. Yuji: Of course. Oh, there is one more thing. The organization called just a short while ago and asked if we wanted to move to Booth 3. Dian: What? Why didn’t you tell me that first?! Oh my god, this changes everything! The ad, booth display...I mean everything! Bill: Uh-oh. Yuji: Ah...I didn’t think it was that good of a deal because that space is smaller and…... Dian: Yeah but it’s right at the main entrance! We gotta get that spot! So, what did you say? Yuji: Ah...I said “It would be too small for us, I think, but we’ll think about it.” Dian: Well, can you call the person back before it’s too late? Yuji: Well...there is a little problem. レイ、キム、タカが休憩中にルートビアーの話をしています。レイとキムはとても楽しんでいます。前回ではタカの口には合わなかったにもかかわらず、良い雰囲気をこわすのではないかと怖くてきちんと自分の意見を言えないでいました。今回は自分の好き嫌いを相手の気分を害することなく言う事で、後々の誤解も避けられたようです。それに自分の好き嫌いをお互い正直にexchange(交換)することで返って更に仲良くなれました。 台本 Ray: Oh man, this is very tasty! You want to try this, Kim? Kim: ...Oh yeah! This is really nice. Where did you buy this? Ray: At the new shopping center...you know, near the airport. Have you been there, Taka? Taka: No, I haven’t. Anyways, what’s that? R: You don’t have root beer in Japan, Taka? You should give it a shot! It’s so great. T: Ok...thanks. R: What do you think, Taka? You like it? T: Yeah...it’s...interesting. K: Oh, you don’t like root beer? T: Well, it’s okay, but I am not a huge fan of it, to be honest but thanks. R: Sure. Well, that means more root beer for me! Haha! T&K: Haha! Later on the same week… K: Hey guys, I went to the mall and bought root beer. Would you like some? R: Oh, awesome! Thanks, Kim! T: I'll pass. I actually brought something today. These are called ampan in Japanese. K: Are these pastries? (eating) Hmm… oh...what’s on the inside? T: Sweet bean paste. How about you, Ray? R: Ah...well, no thanks. T: OK, what do you think, Kim? Would you like another? K: This is...interesting...No thanks, but thanks for asking. T: Sure! That means more for me! 今回のエピソードでは自分の意見を英語で伝える方法がテーマです！ 前回のシチュエーションは東京進出を狙うレストランチェーンが舞台で、outspokenなクレアとアンソニーに遠慮してしまうケンがミーティングで押されるというシチュエーションでした。皆さんの中にも似たような経験をされた方もいらっしゃるんじゃないでしょうか。今回は前回と同じ議題ですが、ケンがしっかり意見を言えた設定で話が進みます。 台本 Anthony: Ken, thank you for showing us around the potential locations last week. They all look appealing. However, I must say I was quite intrigued by the one in Shinjuku. What are your opinions, guys? Claire: Well, unfortunately I have to disagree. Shinjuku looks great but because of growing popularity among tourists, I think it will be best to choose Ginza. Ken, obviously you know Japan more than any of us here. What do you think? Ken: Well, these locations all sound great but I actually quite like the idea of having our next restaurant in Shimbashi. Anthony: Oh, OK. Then, let’s listen to each other before we make a decision. Can I go then? Well, it’s said that Shinjuku Station has the highest number of passengers in the world and we have targeted business people in the first place, which has proven very successful. C: I see. I think you’ve got a point, Anthony. K: Um..May I? C: Sure. Go ahead. K: Thanks. Shinjuku and Ginza are very nice. However, as I mentioned earlier, I really like the Shimbashi unit. C: OK, could you explain? K: Of course. I have two reasons. Firstly, about popularity, Shimbashi actually has both sides; it’s extremely popular among both Japanese business people AND tourists. Secondly, I realized there aren’t many potential competitors. A: By large I agree, but how about the rent? It is the highest of all. K: I am aware that the rent is not as attractive as the other two but it’s still within our budget, especially given the fact that it’s a relatively new building and we can actually use the tables and chairs that the previous tenant left. The designs aren’t too far from our concept and we could save tons of money on furniture. C: Right. Now that I’ve heard from you, I totally agree with you.
