架空の地底世界“Subterranean”の犀。胴が長く巨体、体表面には苔類や鉱物が付着してほとんど同化している。
この作品はかの有名な「デューラーの犀」（木版画）へのオマージュとして制作した。まだ見ぬ生物を伝聞とそれを補完する想像力で描いたデューラー、その姿は実物とは異なるとしても、それは本物として扱われた。そのことに畏敬の念と憧憬を禁じえない。

A rhinoceros who dwells in the imaginary underground world of “Subterranean.” It possesses a long, muscular frame and the surface of its body is covered in moss and minerals to the level of near symbiosis.
This piece was made as an homage to the famous woodblock print of Dürer’s rhinoceros. Dürer himself had never seen such an animal and painted from his own imagination and second-hand reports, but his depiction was treated as real, despite the differences with the actual living species. I can barely contain my awe and longing at such a feat.
