Living in Japan after being away for more than a decade. Vol.1

Since boredom of writing only in Japanese back to back has been building up within myself, I randomly decided to write in English about life in Japan and how it have changed over the course of 2 years since I came back home. In this first journal, I will list positives and negatives I realized while I had been adjusting myself.

Pros

First of all, the cost of living in Japan is much cheaper than what was in New Zealand, where I had been before coming back here. I remember being so amazed that I could order decent sushi cooked by local specialized skilled chefs only for about ¥3500. If I wanted to go cheaper, there are many sushi train restaurants where it probably costed me half of the price.
Also, especially in Tokyo or any other large cities, it's not so necessary to own a car, because the public transportation is well organized and convenient.
Overall experience, I think Japan offers high quality services at fairly fairly cheap prices.

Cons

Since everything is cheap here, your salary can be cheap as well. In fact, everything has to be cheap, because it seems many people can't afforded to have expensive life and this can lead insane discount competition among service providers. The craziest thing I have ever come across in the past 2 years was brand new smartphones, including the iPhone, being sold at ¥10. How it became so discounted is probably never can be understood in my brain; however, somehow those promotions exist in Japan. I think, this is not a sign of a healthy economy and I'm not optimistic about Japan's future either.
Also, this cheap environment began to make me prioritized the price instead of quality, which can be a bad habit to have.

Besides those, the communication skills required in Japan were definitely one of these that were difficult to adjust to, and even to-date this sometimes still makes me regret leaving New Zealand.
I will explain more about this in the future journals.

Summary

In my personal opinion, Japan is definitely one of the best places to visit in the world; it is convenient, cheap, well organized, has great services, and so on. However, as a young adult, to actually live here, I found some difficulties and I can understand why marriage and new born birth rate is so pathetic. If people only choose to be cheap, having your own family would not be the options they would follow, because marriage and children do cost, and imagine that environment that many are almost forced to do so.
