トーマス、エレン、サラ、カタリナ、ノーラの5人は、バンガードの街を調査した。そして、飲み屋の店主の噂を聞いた。

「あの飲み屋の店主、最近、やけに金回りがいいらしいですよ」

「お金・・・怪しいわね」

カタリナがそう言った。

「よし、飲み屋の店主を問い詰めてみよう」

トーマスたちは、飲み屋に入っていった。

「いらっしゃいませ、何を注文されますか？」

トーマスは、何も注文せず、ただひたすら「イルカ・・・」と連呼した。

店主の顔色はみるみる変わり・・・ついに白状した。

「あれが、大切なものだとは知っていました。でも、あれを売って、今では店が繁盛して、妻子がいるんです。見逃してください」

「イルカを誰に売ったのか教えてくれ」

「ヤーマスの商人に売りました。盗品であっても、買い取ってくれる業者があるんです」

「よし、次はヤーマスへ行くぞ！」

トーマスたちは、ヤーマスに行くことにした。

いくつか店を訪問してイルカ像のことを聞いてまわると、ある店の店主が白状した。

「イルカ？ああ・・・それなら・・・でも、まずは何か買ってくださいよ」

「しょうがないなあ・・・じゃあ、傷薬を一つ」

「イルカ像は、どこかにもっと高値で売ろうと思っていたのですが、海賊ブラックに盗まれてしまいました」

「海賊ブラック？」

「はい、このあたりの海では有名な海賊で、海賊ジャッカルと争っていました」

「え・・・今、ジャッカルって言った？」

「はい、どうやら、ブラックとジャッカルが戦って、ジャッカルは負けて消息不明になったようですが・・・」

ノーラは、親方の仇はその海賊ジャッカルではないかと考え始めていた。

「海賊ブラックがどこにいるのか教えてよ」

「おそらく、グレートアーチか、それより南の海じゃないでしょうか？ブラックの本拠地はそのあたりだそうです」

「ありがとう。よし、次はグレートアーチへ行くぞ！」

トーマスたちは、グレートアーチへ行くことになった。船で4日間ほどかかるらしい。今日はもう出航済みなので、ヤーマスで一泊することになった。

夕方、食事をとりながら、エレンはトーマスに話しかけていた。

「ねえ、ユリアンって、ひょっとして、モニカ様と付き合っているんじゃないかしら？」

カタリナは、眉をひそめた。

「え・・・ユリアンがモニカ様と？身分も違うのに・・・」

「でも、なんか、私、こういうのわかるのよね・・・」

トーマスは心の中でこう思っていた・・・「ユリアン・・・今までは、エレンと付き合いたいってずっと言っていたのに・・・まあ、いいか。あいつが幸せになれれば、それでいいや。でも、カタリナも言った通り、モニカ様は高貴な方だから、うまくいくのかな・・・」

すると、カタリナはエレンに聞いた。

「エレンは、好きな人はいるの？」

「え・・・私・・・いないわよ。カタリナはいるの？」

「私も・・・いないわよ」

カタリナは、心の中で、嘘をついてしまった・・・と思った。しかし、本当のことを話すわけにもいかない。ミカエル侯に恋をしているなんて、とてもじゃないが言えない。そして、ハリードと過ごしていたとき、少しハリードのことも気になっていた。そのことも、カタリナは言えなかった。

「サラにも、良い男がいるといいのにね！」

エレンが笑いながら言った・・・サラは、恥ずかしそうに顔を赤らめていた。

「おーい、女子たち、恋愛トークになってるぞ・・・真面目な話をしようよ。カタリナは、マスカレイドを探しているんだろ？アビスゲートを閉じるほうを優先してもいいのか？」

「ええ・・・迷ったけど、アビスゲートを閉じるときの道中で、マスカレイドの情報も手に入ればと思って。それに、海賊ジャッカルのことは気になるわね」

「そうよ！親方の仇よ！海賊ブラックに話を聞いてみたいわ」

ノーラが熱く語った。

そのとき・・・突然、宿の外で騒音がした。

「ん・・・なんだろう？」

窓から外を見ていると、覆面の男が、見るからにガラの悪い男たちに取り押さえられている。

トーマスたちは、外に出て話を聞いてみた。

「怪傑ロビンという、街のヒーローなんです。悪い奴らを倒してくれるんですが、奴らに捕まってしまって・・・」

「ロビンと名乗る悪党を裁く。死罪とする。その前に、正体を明かしてもらおうか・・・」

その時・・・「フハハハハハ！」

建物の上からジャンプして、もう一人別の覆面の男が現れた。

「お疲れ様、偽ロビンさん」

「どういうことだ？ロビンが二人・・・先生方、お願いしますよ」

すると、悪魔系のモンスターが複数、出現し、人々と襲い始めた。

ロビンたち二人はモンスターと戦い始めた。

「俺たちも加勢するぞ！」

トーマスたちも加勢し、モンスターは全滅した。

「ありがとう、君たち。私たちの力が必要なときは、ヤーマスの港の倉庫に来てくれ」

そう言って、ロビン2人はどこかへと消えていった。

「はあ、モンスターと戦ったら、疲れたな。宿屋に帰るか」

トーマスたちは、宿に帰って休むことにした。
