小説ロマンシングサガ3-宿命を乗り越えて-　第1話　陰謀の立ち聞き～シノンの酒場　Novel Romancing Saga 3 -Overcoming Fate- Episode 1 Conspiracy Eavesdropping - Sinon's Tavern

「ロマンシングサガ3」は、ロマンシングサガシリーズの3作目として、スクウェア（現スクウェアエニックス）から1995年に発売された、懐かしのゲームソフトです。前作は七英雄の伝説など、ストーリーとして完成度が高かったのに、当作品はストーリーが不完全（未完成）のまま、発売されてしまったような気がします。それとも、わざと謎を残して、プレイヤーの想像力をかきたてようとしたのか・・・。

そこで、私が小説を書くことで、この作品のストーリーを補完したいと思います。名付けて「ロマサガ3補完計画」です。

【簡単なロマサガ3の世界観】
300年に一度起こる現象、死の星が太陽を覆い隠す「死食」に翻弄される世界。 死食が起こった時、その年に生まれた全ての生命が死に絶えてしまう。 人も、動物も、モンスターも赤子の命を奪われ、草木が枯れ落ちて飢えに苦しみ、世界は荒れ果ててゆく。

ところが、600年前の死食で1人の赤子が生き残った。人々は死食を跳ねのけた「宿命の子」として祝福したが、死に魅入られ、死の定めを背負ったその子は魔の世界「アビス」に住む四魔貴族を従え「魔王」となり、世界に君臨。人々を恐怖と圧政で苦しめ、ある日突然姿を消した。

それから300年後、再び死食が起こり、1人の赤子が生き残った。魔王の再来を恐れた人々はその子を殺そうとしたが、赤子は死の魅惑を退けて成長し、やがて多くの仲間と共に四魔貴族に戦いを挑み、アビスに追い返した。人々は世界に平和をもたらした宿命の子を「聖王」と呼んだ。

そしてさらに300年後、またも死食が発生する。宿命の子は生まれたのか？　その運命は聖王か、魔王か？　人々は怯えながらも日々を過ごす一方、世界は再び動乱の時代を迎え、その影では聖王が封印した「アビスゲート」が死食によって再び開き始め、四魔貴族が現れようとしていた。

そんな折、死食から15年後のロアーヌ侯国で反乱が発生。辺境の地シノンの開拓民ユリアン、エレン、トーマス、サラは、逃亡中の候女モニカを流浪の剣士ハリードと共に護衛しつつモニカの兄ミカエルのもとへ向かう。 ミカエルは妹を安全な場所に避難させた後、護衛の剣士カタリナらと共に反乱の首謀者を討ち、クーデターを鎮圧。ユリアンたちは事件解決の功労者としてロアーヌ宮殿へ招かれることになる。

この事件をきっかけとして8人はそれぞれの道を歩み始め、世界中を旅することになる。 その中で宿命の子と深く関り、四魔貴族と世界の命運をかけた戦いを繰り広げてゆく。

第一話前半　陰謀を立ち聞きした夜

ロアーヌ侯宮殿・・・雨が今にも降りそうな夕方であった。ロアーヌ侯爵ミカエルの妹、モニカ姫は、窓から雨雲を見て、何やら嫌な予感を感じ取っていた。

「どうしたのかしら・・・不安な感じがしますわ・・・あら、玉座の間のほうから声が聞こえますわ・・・お兄様は遠征でいらっしゃらないのに、誰かいるのかしら・・・」

ひそひそと押し殺した声で、何やら話している二人がいるようだ。玉座の間の扉に耳を押し当ててみた。

「明日、決行だな、これで、この城の主は私になるわけだ」

「その時は、私のこともお忘れなく、ロアーヌ侯ゴドウィン閣下」

「よかろう、私の部下として働いてくれたまえ、大臣、うはははは」

「念の為、モニカを捕らえておくようにしろ。いざという時、人質として使えるからな」

モニカは昔から耳がよかったので、はっきりと聞こえた。恐ろしい陰謀を立ち聞きしてしまったのだ。

「・・・ゴドウィン男爵と大臣が、、、クーデターを計画している・・・お兄様の爵位を・・・この国を乗っ取ろうとしているのね・・・まずは、カタリナにこのことを伝えないと」

ロアーヌ侯国は、先代のフランツ侯が亡くなってからまだ三ヶ月しか経ってはいなかった。新しいロアーヌ侯、ミカエルは早くも名君と言われてはいたものの、若いミカエルのことを好ましく思わない連中もいたのだ。

モニカは、信頼しているカタリナにこのことを伝えに行った。カタリナは、モニカの侍女で護衛も務める剣士である。また、ロアーヌの爵位を持つ貴族でもある。

「カタリナ・・・大変なの・・・ゴドウィン男爵と大臣が、クーデターを計画しているの」

カタリナは、300年前に四魔貴族を倒してアビスの向こうへ追放した英雄、聖王の遺物である聖剣マスカレイドを託されている。マスカレイドは、300年前に聖王からロアーヌへ渡されたとの伝説がある。

「わかりました。では、私がミカエル様に伝えに参ります」

「いえ、それでは、私が捕らえられてしまうわ。私が馬に乗り、お兄様に伝えに行きますわ」

「わかりました。お気をつけて。この場は、このカタリナにお任せください」

モニカはドレスから出かけるための服装に着替えた。美しくまとめてあった金髪の長い髪もほどいた。急であったため、武器は小剣を一本持つのみだ。秘密の裏口から出て、馬に乗り、ミカエルのいる宿営地へ向かった。

「私は、モニカ様の替え玉を用意しないと・・・いざというときのため、似ている娘がいて良かったわ」

カタリナは、モニカに似た召使いの女性に、指示をした。

「これを着て、ここに寝なさい。声は出さないのよ」

「え、これはモニカ様のお寝間着・・・そんなことはできません」

「いいから、早くしなさい！」

これで何時間、稼げるかわからなかったが、こうするより他はない。カタリナは持っている武器や道具を部屋に隠し、牢屋の鍵も身につけて、成り行きを待つことにした。

大臣や、その取り巻きの兵士がモニカの部屋に騒がしく入ってきた。

「カタリナ、おとなしくしてもらおう。モニカを出せ！」

「大臣、何事ですか？！このようなことが、ミカエル様に知らされれば大変なことになりますよ！」

「ミカエル様ねえ・・・ふん、今日からこの城の主はゴドウィン様だ」

「私を見くびってくれたわね、その程度の人数で、この剣士カタリナを倒せると思ったのかしら？」

「も、モニカ様がどうなってもよいのか？！」

「く、モニカ様に一切手を出さないならば、大人しくするわ」

「おい、カタリナから武器を取り上げろ！」

兵士の手がカタリナの腰、ふとももへ伸びた。

「ちょっと、どこを触っているの！いやらしいわね！」

「すみません」

「カタリナを牢屋へ入れておけ！」

カタリナは、囚人たちのいる牢屋へ入れられてしまった。

第一話後半　シノンの酒場

モニカは、ミカエルにクーデターについて知らせるため、急いで馬を走らせていた。

しかし、稲光におびえて、馬は走らなくなった。

「お願い、走って！走って！」

それでも馬は走らない。モニカは、今、シノンと呼ばれるロアーヌ領辺境の開拓地の村に来ていた。

「この村で、馬を貸してもらうしかなさそうね・・・」

シノンの開拓村には、流浪の王族、ハリードが来ていた。

「姫、ひめ、ヒメ、どこですか？」

「姫はやめて、ファーティマと呼んで、エル・ヌール！」

ハリードは、滅亡したゲッシア王朝の王族の一人だ。王朝は、神王教団という新興宗教の軍隊に滅ぼされた。ハリードはその後、王朝再興のために軍資金を集めるため、傭兵などの仕事をしながら旅をしてきた。

酒場でハリードは、恋人だったファーティマとの甘い記憶に一人、浸っていた。

その頃、店の外では、トーマス、ユリアン、エレン、サラの四人の開拓者の若者が談笑していた。

「稲光をモンスターは嫌うから、今夜はゴブリンも大人しくしているだろう」

「サラと同じだな、ははは」

「そろそろ、仕事を引き上げて、店に入ろうぜ」

トーマスは最年長で、開拓村のリーダー格。剣・槍・体術、さらには魔術の類も使えることで、尊敬されていた。ユリアンは、15年前の死食で妹を失っている。正義感の強い若者で、剣術を得意とする。エレンは、20歳の若く美しい女性だが、力の強さは大男にも負けないほどだ。妹のサラを大切に守ってきた。サラは、明るい性格のエレンとは対照的に、奥ゆかしい16歳の少女である。

「トーマス、エレンと話がしたいのだけど」

「わかった、サラ、こっち来て。マスター、キッチン借りるよ、何か食べ物をつくるから」

ユリアンは、小さい頃から、幼なじみのエレンに好意を抱いていた。

「エレン、今度、ミュルスの港に行かないか？色んな船がきていて、楽しそうだよ。何か買うのもいいし」

「ユリアン、行くのは別にいいんだけど、、、悪いけど、私たち、恋人にはなれないよ。お互いのこと、知りすぎてるし・・・ときめきがないの」

エレンは、美しい髪を揺らしながら、そっけなく答えていた。

トーマスは、ユリアンがエレンに好意を抱いていることに感づいていた。優しい性格のトーマスは、ユリアンの想いが成就することを願っていた。

「ユリアン・・・うまくやってるかな・・・？」

「トムって、本当に何でもできるのね！料理も得意だなんて」

「ああ、ベント家の伝統でね、戦い、学問、商売、料理、水泳、なんでもやらなきゃいけないのさ」

サラは、博識でリーダーシップもあるトーマスを兄のように慕っていた。

会話が弾んでいたその時、酒場のドアがぎいっと音をたてて開いた。

「馬を、馬を貸してください」

「どうしたんですか、ずぶ濡れじゃないですか！何かあったんですか？！」

先ほどまで、エレンを口説いていたユリアンだが、何やら美しい金髪の女性が焦燥した感じで入ってくると、一目散に助けに行った。

「関わり合いにならんほうがよいぞ、その人はロアーヌ侯爵の妹、モニカ姫だ」

ハリードが、ゆっくりと口を開いた。

「え、あのミカエル様の妹！モニカ様！であれば、なおさら助けないと！」

「ふー」

ハリードは席を立ち、わかってねえなと話を始めた。

「おかしいと思わないか？先代のフランツが死んでからまだ三ヶ月だ。ロアーヌ侯爵位を狙うものがいてもおかしくない。モニカ姫が一人でこんなところに来て、焦燥しているのだから、何かあったのだと考えるのが普通だ。ミカエルがロアーヌ侯爵でなくなれば、1オーラムの稼ぎにもならん」

「先代のフランツ様からも、ミカエル様からも、俺達開拓民はよくしてもらってきた。俺はモニカ様とともに行くぜ」

エレンも口を開いた。

「おっさん、口は達者だけど、その曲刀はただの飾りかい？カネをもらえないと仕事をしない主義なのかい？」

「ふん、俺の曲刀カムシーンの名にかけて、ミカエルの元まで送り届けてやってもいいぞ。そっちは何人着いてくる？」

「カムシーン！まさか、あなたは、あの有名なトルネードですか？！各地の戦いで獅子奮迅の活躍をしているとの噂ですよ！」

酒場の店主は驚いた様子で話した。

「ああ、俺のことをそう呼ぶ奴もいるな」

「俺も行くよ、ユリアン」

「トーマス！そう言ってくれると思ったよ！」

ユリアンは、トーマスが賛同してくれて喜んでいた。

「サラ、あなたは家で待っていなさいね」

エレンは、妹のサラにもしものことがあったらと、心配であった。

「サラをのけ者にしなくてもよいだろう」

「のけ者だなんて！私はただ、サラのことが心配で」

「どうでもいいが、早く決めろよ！」

ハリードはいらだった。

「この四人で行くよ」

「トーマス！」

エレンとサラは、年齢の離れた姉妹だ。二人とも美人だが、姉のエレンが活発で力が強く、男性からもてるのに対して、妹のサラは落ち着いた引っ込み思案で、性格は対称的だ。人間も動物も、その時に生まれた全ての生命が死に絶えるとされる死食といわれる日食のときに生まれたサラは、死んでしまわないかエレンから常に心配され、守られて育ってきた。

「よし、じゃあ、明日、出発だ。今日はもう寝ろ」

「待ってください、今すぐに出発しましょう」

「モニカ様、あんたのその体調では5分ともたないだろう。休んだ休んだ」

ハリードは、そう説得した。

シノンの開拓者の若者たちとハリード、モニカは、シノンで一泊してから出発することにした。

"Romancing Saga 3" is a nostalgic game released by Square (now Square Enix) in 1995 as the third installment of the Romancing Saga series. The previous work (Romancing Saga 2) had a high degree of perfection as a story, such as the legend of the seven heroes, but I feel that this work (Romancing Saga 3) was released with the story incomplete (unfinished). Or maybe it was intentionally left a mystery to stir the imagination of the players...

Therefore, I would like to supplement the story of this work by writing a novel. It's called "Romasaga 3 Complementary Plan".

[Simple Romance Saga 3 world view]
A world that is tossed about by a phenomenon that occurs once every 300 years, the "Death Eater" where the stars of death cover the sun. When the Death Eater occurs, all life born in that year will die out. Humans, animals, and monsters all lose their babies' lives, the trees and plants wither and suffer from hunger, and the world is desolate.

However, one baby survived the Death Eater 600 years ago. The people blessed him as a "destined child" who threw off Death Eater, but he was fascinated by death and shouldered the fate of death. Reign. He tormented the people with fear and tyranny, and one day he suddenly disappeared.

300 years later, death eclipse occurred again, and one baby survived. At that time, 15 years after the Death Eater, a rebellion broke out in the Principality of Roanne. Pioneers Julian, Ellen, Thomas, and Sarah of the frontier land of Chinon escort Monica, who is on the run, with the wandering swordsman Khalid to Monica's brother Michael. After evacuating her sister to a safe place, Michael, along with his swordsman Katarina and others, avenge the ringleaders of the rebellion and crush the coup d'état. Julian and the others are invited to the Roane Palace as contributors to the case.

Triggered by this incident, eight people will start walking on their own paths and will travel around the world. Among them, he is deeply involved with the destined child, and fights against the four demonic nobles for the fate of the world.

Alone in the tavern, Khalid basks in sweet memories of his lover, Fatima.

At that time, four young pioneers, Thomas, Julian, Ellen, and Sarah, were chatting outside the store.

Thomas is the oldest and the leader of the pioneer village. He was revered for his ability to wield swords, spears, martial arts, and even magic. Julian lost his sister to the Death Eater 15 years ago. He is a young man with a strong sense of justice and is good at swordsmanship. Ellen is a young, beautiful woman of 20 years old, but her strength is as strong as that of a big man. She took good care of her sister Sarah. Sarah is a modest 16-year-old girl in contrast to Ellen, who has a bright personality.

"Thomas, I'd like to talk to Ellen."

Since childhood, Julian has had a crush on his childhood friend, Ellen.
