Day 110 : Latin American Foods

OK, again and again, on the Latin topic.

I talked about Ceviche yesterday.

You know, here in Japan, we have some Latin American food restaurants here in Japan as well. The most popular ones are Mexican.

That's also an influence of the United States, because most of these Mexican restaurants are more like Tex-Mex, the kind of American-Mexican restaurants you could find in Texas, which are also similar to Californian and the others in the US.

We have also some Brazilian restaurants as well, because there are some Brazilian workers in this country, mostly the descendants of Japanese immigrants to Brazil 100+ years ago, meaning, they've come back to their ancestors home. They also have brought back their food culture from Brazil.

Aside from these two countries' restaurants, we have a very few Latin American restaurants. This can't be helped mostly due to the geographical distance.

But considering the diversity of their food, a variety of ingredients and spices, and the mixed styles of cooking ways, I believe more of the Latin American foods should be introduced to Japan.

When I go to New York, I make it a rule to stop by at one of those Latin American restaurants, such as Cuban, Dominican, Puerto Rico, and so on...

This is one of the examples...

God, they are so good and I believe their flavors could match with the tastes of Japanese people.

Hoping that someday I could drop by at one of those favorite Latin American restaurants in Japan, as well.

Quote of the day:
“Eating a burrito is like eating a living, breathing organism - you can feel the burrito's ingredients sigh inside with each bite, each squeeze.”
