Day 177: Kamaboko

Speaking of Osechi, Kamaboko is one of the Osechi foods which we eat more than usual.

It tastes very good with lightly salty flavor but with a little bit of mellifluousness and Umami.
Even though it is made of fish, it is no fishy at all.

So, I think it could become more popular in the US or Europe.
But I never met with people from these areas who like Kamaboko.

My guess of why not really popular is because the naming.
Kamaboko is translated as fish cake...
Who likes to try cake made of fish!?

So, I hereby propose we should use the other name for Kamaboko, which is Naruto.
In Wikipedia, it is called Narutomaki.

But here in Japan, we always call "Naruto".

Yes, the same as the famous manga.
Strictly speaking, Naruto has a rolling mark, but just forget the strictness...

If we use this naming, Kamaboko could be globally popular, as much as that manga.

By the way, I touched on this manga at Day 2..., wow, 175 days ago!

Word of the day
