Depress

Your sleeping breath was strangely annoying
So I quietly got up in the middle of the night and drank some shochu
The table seemed unusually large
The light was too bright, so I turned it off
The sofa was dry and stiff
Mail was piled up on the piano
My feet felt cold
My eyes were dry and stinging
I tried to think of something fun
But I couldn't
Neither erotic sites nor animal sites helped
I looked at your sleeping face once more
It was cute
Yet, the iron at the bottom of my stomach
Remained iron
I felt like I heard the sound of an old, thick door opening
I saw a cage beyond the door
Inside the cage, there was an electric chair
The electric chair seemed to have blood flowing through it
An accountant was taking notes beside me
The accountant had an unusually large calculator
But he never used that calculator
The accountant pointed to the electric chair with a pencil
I replied, "Why don’t you go?"
The accountant, seeming resigned,
Showed me his notes
"We have all the evidence, so this way please."
Indeed, the evidence was sufficient
The switch to the electric chair was flipped
Ominous, heated steam was rising
I could hear the jeers of the crowd
I gave up and stood up
The accountant continued taking notes
"It’s all about the cost,"
He said proudly
As if quoting a famous saying
Suddenly angry, I grabbed his notes
And shoved them into the accountant's mouth
I saw a 100-yen price tag on the back cover of the notebook
"That’s why you’ll always be a child,"
An old friend criticized
My wife looked at me with concern,
As if to ask, "Are you a child?"
Before being abandoned,
An elusive hand of darkness
Caressed my back
