"Ubiquitous" or "Clear and Present Danger"
There is a word "ubiquitous". It was originally Latin for "God is everywhere". A man used this as an expression to express the network society.
If you look up "ubiquitous" in a Japanese dictionary, it looks like this.
In the 2004 White Paper on Information and Communications, there is a feature article titled "Building a Globally Spreading Ubiquitous Network Society." The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications commissioned Nomura Research Institute to produce a survey on people's lives in a ubiquitous network society, which has 131 pages. If you count the calorie of enthusiasm for writing this report, I think it's worth it. Also the cost and time involved.
Despite such a big talk, the term was a bubble. The word "ubiquitous" does not appear in this year's "White Paper on Information and Communications" at all. Nor can you find it in recent articles on the IT industry. At least in Japan, it was a word like a shimmering flame.
It seems that those who tried to popularize "ubiquitous" and failed are now trying to popularize "DX" instead. The word "DX" appears in several places in this year's "White Paper on Information and Communications". There is even an article that threatens to leave us behind if we don't do this.
However, this "DX" is also a foreign word that is hard to get. How long does "DX" have a shelf life? I will write about "DX" when I have a chance.
By the way, I think the word "ubiquitous" can now be used in a completely different field for something that does not make us happy at all. It is the virus of "that disease. I mean, we don't know where it is, but I'm sure it's there.
When the infection first started, it was said that 'that disease' was not airborne. But NIID says this :
However, according to this article, the probability of contact infection is quite low.
However, alcohol disinfectants and the like are placed in any restaurant or supermarket now. Also, the store staff wears gloves.
There is a graph of the number of food poisoning cases reported by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Also, looking at the report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the number of food poisoning cases is decreasing (I wonder why two ministries produce similar statistics).
The gradual decline in the number of cases may be due to an increase in the number of people refraining from eating out. However, as more people pay attention to the cleanliness of their hands, it seems to have the effect of reducing the risk of food poisoning.
By the way, "Clear and Present Danger" in the second half of the title of this post is a movie released in 1994. I completely forgot the content, but the title is exactly "that disease" itself.
