散歩していたら、車道のわきでネズミが×××××

かなり大きな個体だったので、ドブネズミだったかもしれない。

日本全土に生息するねずみの種類は、15属10種類ほどといわれています。このうち、住宅やビル内で問題をひきおこすのは、ドブネズミ、クマネズミ、ハツカネズミの3種類で、総称してイエネズミと呼んでいます。

死んだネズミを見るのは初めてではないと思うが、少し驚いた。
数日後にそこを通りかかると、跡形もなかった。

前に住んでいた木造アパートで、台所の床を走っていくネズミを見たことがある。フライドチキンのようなものをくわえていた。

I don't think it was the first time I'd seen a dead rat, but I was a bit surprised. When I passed by the place a few days later, there was not a trace of it.

In the wooden apartment I used to live in, I once saw a rat running across the kitchen floor. It had something like fried chicken in its mouth.
