◎話題は年齢と交通事故の関係に。

★force；強制する（to make someone do something that they do not want to do）、obey；～に従う（to do what you are told or expected to do）、redesign；再設計する（to design something again, in a different way）、enforcement；施行（to make sure that people obey a particular law or rule）、autonomous；自律的な（able to do things and make decisions without help from anyone else）、insist；主張する（to say firmly that something is true, especially when other people do not believe you）、capable；能力がある（having the ability or qualities necessary for doing something）、stubborn；頑固な（determined not to change your opinion or attitude）

☆not-too-distant future；それほど遠くない将来（not a long time in the future but fairly soon）
☆in terms of；～を単位として（used to show what aspect of a subject you are talking about or how you are thinking about it）

◎主人公は、日本での傾向として70歳以上の人の死亡事故が多いと話すが、最近の米国での分析では、むしろ30代のほうが重篤な事故を起こしているという。
◎米国では、若い人のほうが長距離運転をすることから、死亡事故も多いのだろうということ。いずれにしても、自動運転は多くの人為的ミスに伴う事故を劇的に減らすことができるのではないかと、期待する。10年後には、事故のニュースを聞いて、えっ？それって、人が運転してたってこと？というような反応が普通になっているかもしれない。
