静岡のプラモデル産業につながっている駿府の街の職人たち
Did you know that over 90% of plastic model kit production in Japan comes from Shizuoka prefecture?
日本のプラモデル生産の90%以上が静岡県だとご存じでしょうか？
The origin can be traced back to Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu.
その起源は徳川家康公までさかのぼることが出来ます。
When Lord Ieyasu developed Sumpu Castle and the city, he gathered artisans from all over Japan.
家康公が駿府城と駿府の街を開発する時、日本中から多くの職人を集めました。
（現在の昭和町・紺屋町）
Some of them came to settle in Sumpu, and the offspring conveyed their special techniques from generation to generation.
彼らの中には駿府に定住する者もいました。そしてその子孫が自分たちの技術を代々伝えていきました。
Hence, for example, the technique of wooden crafts was improved in Sumpu.
その一例として、木工業の技術は駿府で発展しました。
In modern times, in 1932, production and sales of wooden model planes started in Shizuoka.
近代になった1932年に、静岡で木製模型飛行機の製造と販売が開始されました。
In the same year, the model plane industry association of Shizuoka Prefecture was established by the makers.
同年、静岡県模型飛行機工業組合が設立されました。
Just after WW2, in 1945, producing model planes was prohibited by the GHQ.
まさに終戦後の1945年、模型飛行機の生産はGHQにより禁じられました。
However, producers in Shizuoka established their companies to develop their industry of wooden models one after another.
しかし、静岡の生産者たちは木製模型を発展させるため、彼らの会社を次々と興しました。
The late 1950s was a turning point for the Shizuoka model industry.
1950年代の終わりが静岡の模型産業の転換点でした。
Importing advanced plastic models started and it gave a great impact on the local model industry.
進んだプラスチックモデルの輸入が始まり、地元の模型業界に衝撃を与えました。
Some of the producers in Shizuoka changed their wooden products into plastic ones, leading to their success.
静岡の生産者の中には自分たちの製品を木製からプラスチック製に変更する者たちがいました。
Today, many model enthusiasts are attracted by the annual event called ‘Shizuoka Hobby Show’, which exhibits many companies’ proud products.
今日、多くの模型ファンが「静岡ホビーショー」という年に一度のイベントに集まります。そこでは多くの会社の自慢の製品が展示されます。
Some plastic model companies offer their products to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine to express gratitude for Lord Ieyasu.
家康公への感謝を表すため、久能山東照宮に自分たちの製品を奉納しているプラモデル会社もあります。
