A happy update from our sister organization HSF on Covid-19 activity
2015年にシェアから正式に独立し、タイ国の財団、現地N G OとなったH S Fのチェリー代表が、昨日12月7日、フェースブックにうれしい便りを寄せてくれました。ぜひ今日はそれを皆さんにご紹介したいと思います。
HSF that formally became an independent, non-profit, grass-roots Thai organization in 2015 actively continues its health promoting activities, against all odds, widely in Ubon Rachathani Province, North-east ( Isan ).

以下、HSF代表 チェリーさん自身のメッセージです。
Ms. Cherry’s latest post on Facebook is as follows;
「今日（12月7日）、H S Fはケマラート郡ケマラート病院のトレーニングセンターで、コミュニティのリーダーたちに集まってもらいミーティングを開きました。私たちはどのようにCovid-19に関する正しい知識を住民に持ってもらい、予防に役立てるべきか、を話し合いました。これらのリーダーたちはキャンペーンを立ち上げ、人びとを勇気づけて新型コロナ感染症に対するワクチン接種を促し、たとえ感染しても死者や重症者を生まないために活動していくことになりますが、そのことはまた、コミュニティの中でのよきコミュニケーションづくりのためにも役立つものとなるでしょう」
“Today HSF does COVID19 prevention meeting for community leaders at Khemarat hospital, Khemarat district. We have discussed how to prevent and provide COVID-19 knowledge correctly. Those leaders will campaign and encourage people to get COVID-19 vaccinations for decreasing serious and deaths cases with positive communication in their own community.”

タイ語の部分は不完全な機械訳ですが、HSFにとって、ずっと以前から取り組んできた、HIV/AIDSに関わる予防・啓発、そして偏見・差別をなくす活動が、今回のCovid-19に対する取り組みでも非常に役立っていることがよく分かります。
Messages written in original Thai is difficult to understand because of machine translation. However, I can easily grasp that HSF’s long-standing rich experience and activities on HIV/AIDS for social justice is very much instrumental in coping with this new challenge that is Covid-19.
東北タイにおいても、Covid-19に関する正しい知識や行動の仕方を理解できていないまま、人びとが過度な恐怖感を持ち、職場を離れてしまったり、村の中でコロナをめぐって喧嘩をする、ワクチン接種に抵抗する人が出るなど、さまざまな問題がコミュニティで生まれているようなのです。
As is often the case in other parts of the world, also in Isan many people often harbor excessive sense of horror, leave the workplace from mental exhaustion, quarrel over the trifle matter on Covid and refuse to be vaccinated for no reason and so on.
エイズ・ウイルスに対するすぐれた治療薬が生まれ、タイでも草の根の人びとにアクセスが可能となった、2000年代前半まで、知識不足から来る、HIV陽性者への偏見や差別が多く見られたのでした。この時の経験を生かし、今回の Covid-19に際してもHSFのスタッフや村の協力者、ボランティアたちは、ユニークで親しみやすい参加型のトレーニングを通じて、問題を一つひとつ解決し、正しい知識や行動の仕方を人びとの間に浸透させて行こうと努力しているのです。
Until early 2000s when newly developed anti-viral drugs against AIDS became broadly available and accessible to grass-roots populace in Thailand, there were wide-spread bickering and stigmatization against PWHAs in the community due to lack of proper knowledge and communication. HSF has learned a lot from this experience. Facing this new pandemic challenge, HSF people, their friends and health volunteers in the community are doing their very best to assuage and solve the Covid-related painful problems one by one through dialogues and role-playing activities with the villagers.
改めて私は、H S Fの人たちの、ケマラートでの出色の働き、勇気ある実践に敬意を深くしたことです。
I once again express my deep respect and solidarity with people in HSF for their courageous and ingenious endeavor in Khemarat.
