私たちの社会には莫大な数の学習塾がある。そして通う生徒もたくさんいる。しかし全ての学習塾が長く経営できるわけでもない。少子化はそれに拍車をかけている。
There are numerous cram schools in our area, and many students attend there, but none of them lasts for a long time, which low birthrate has negative contributions to as well as lack of managers’ performance.

学習塾の役割は学校の役割とは違う。学校は教科を教えるだけではなくて道徳教育も担う。理論的には教育する側にモラルが必要だが、現実はそうなってはいない。
The role a cram school plays seems different from that of a public school because the latter is also in charge of moral education in addition to required subjects like math, English, science, Japanese and so on.
A teacher at school must possess morality, which isn’t the case because there have been many inappropriate behaviors committed by him or her.

学習塾の目的ははっきりしている。生徒が英語や数学のテストで良い点数が取れるように徹底的にトレーニングをする。そこにモラルや思いやりは存在しない。
The purpose of a cram school is to train its students to obtain good marks or high scores on English or math exams till they understand how to solve questions, which is their indispensable mission.
There are few morals or considerations at such a school.

しかし生徒がやる気を起こして頑張らないと成績は上がらない。その使命を果たすためには、彼らに対して大人の対応ができる資質が講師には要求される。

In order to achieve this purpose,  a tutor at cram school is required to possess attitudes to address his or her students with consideration or friendliness.

ほとんどの生徒は自分の意志で積極的に学習塾に通っているわけではない。親がお金を払って強制的にそうさせている。やる気を起こさせる作業は簡単ではない。
Almost all of the students are reluctant to a cram school without their own will because their mother forces them to attend lessons so that their grades could become better while the expenses aren’t low, which is the reason that a incapable tutor cannot make them motivated to study difficult subjects positively.

彼らが志望校に合格するかどうかは本人の意志に左右されるのだが、取り巻く講師の努力が功を奏することもある。そこには彼らを応援する姿勢が要求される。
Whether they can pass an entrance examination or not depends on their efforts, talents and motivations, but several tutors around them could sometimes make a difference, so their attitudes toward their students must be significant when they want to realize their success.
