クメール式パーティー！ ~Khmer Party~

先週の金曜にオフィスで行われた送別会と歓迎会。

The party was held at the office last Friday.

食べ物が到着すると、大量のゴミ袋を持ってきて敷き始めるオフィスの皆さん、え？？？？なぜ？？？

Once foods arrived, they started to spread many garbage bags. Eh? Why?

どうやら、ごみ袋はシート替わりで写真のようにそのごみ袋の上に食べ物を並べて裸足になって座って食べた。

Oh, it is instead of sheat, we ate in the garbage bag like the picture.

これがクメール式。カンボジアに来てローカルフードはいろいろと挑戦してきたが、今回のパーティーで食べた食べ物はほぼ全部初めて食べるものだった。

It is Khmer style. I have tried many Khmer food but the foods at the party are almost all my first time.

食べ方などがわからずあたふたしながらオフィスのカンボジア人の皆さんを見ながら食べていった私。貝の殻をとるのに苦労したりなど、、、できたときは近くに座っていたカンボジア人たちが拍手して祝ってくれた。笑　これだからカンボジア人たちが好き。常に陽気で楽しい人たち。

I did not know how to eat that's why I got confused and imitate other Cambodians. I took time to peel the seashell, when I could peel it, Cambodian around me clapped their hands lol. They are so cheerful, so, I love them.

カンボジア人たちは乾杯をたくさんする。1口飲んだらすぐまた乾杯したりもする笑　こうやって雰囲気がどんどん盛り上がっていく。

In Cambodian culture, they always cheer. cheering by cheering, we will become much fun and fun.

盛り上がっていったところ、あるカンボジア人が何かをもって私のところに来た。

One Cambodian guy came to me to bring something.

彼の手には、「コオロギ」が。悲鳴を上げた私、そしたらみんな爆笑して喜んだのできっとそれが目的だった笑

He showed me "crickets", so I cried!!! Then, everyone laughed out so they meant to do it maybe lol.

カンボジア人たちは昆虫も食べる、彼が持っていたのは多分コオロギを揚げたもの。見た目からコオロギなので私はちょっと、、、食べられないです。笑　カンボジアではコオロギをつぶしてできた粉で作られたクッキーなども売られていて、それはおいしくて好きなんですが、ローカルにあるコオロギの食べ物はそのままのコオロギです。笑

Cambodians eat insects. Probably the crickets he had is fried. It looks so gross so I am not good at that... Actually in Cambodia, the cookies made from the powder of crickets are sold, I love it tho.

21時ぐらいまでオフィスに残ってみんなで飲んでいたが、最後のらへんはカンボジア人たちが大好きな「カラオケ大会」が開催。

We drunk till 9pm and Cambodian started to sing a lot in the end.

音楽をガンガンと流して歌っていくカンボジア人たち。

They sang with the music.

こういう雰囲気が好きだなあと改めて思った日。これだからカンボジアが大好き！

I love the culture! I love Cambodia!

最後は、最初に床に敷いたごみ袋を使って片付け。これを見て「頭いい！！」とも思った。わざわざシートを用意するとまた別にごみ袋を用意しなきゃいけないしシートも洗わなきゃいけない。でも最初からごみ袋を敷けばそういう面倒もない。なるほど！！！生活の知識！！！カンボジア人たちにとってはそれが当たり前なのかもしれないけれども、そういう発想が全くなかった私にとってはすごいと思う発想。

Finally, we cleaned up the office after the party. They used the garbage bags that spread in the beginning, I was like it is such a smart idea!!! I had no idea about that.

私はクメール語話せないし、実は耳が聞こえない。自分の声を使ってうまく話すこともできない。それでも身振りや筆談など色々と工夫してコミュニケーションを取り、とても楽しめたパーティー。コミュニケーションをとるにあたって一番大切なのは言語ではなく笑顔ではないかと改めて思った。きれいごとに聞こえるかもしれないけれども、本当にそう思う。

I don't understand Khmer language and I have a hearing disability. Plus, I cannot speak well with my voice. However, I could enjoy the party to communicate with them by handwritten or gesture. I think the language doesn't matter, "smile" does matter!

私の場合、中学までろう学校に通っており、打ち上げなどたくさんの人が集まるイベントが大好きだったが、高校は自分の希望で健聴の学校に入ったにもかからわず、たくさんの人が集まると話が分からなくなりそれが辛く感じるようになって、中学までは大好きだった打ち上げが苦手になってしまった。高校のときにフィリピンに留学し、たくさんの人が集まってもみんな国籍が違っても上手な英語じゃなくてもパーティーを楽しめたきっかけで、私は海外のほうが生きやすいのではと思った。

I went to deaf school till I was a junior high school student and I loved parties but I became to hate to join the party in high school even I wanted to study at a normal high school, not a deaf school because I didn't understand what they talked and I do felt sad too much. I studied in the Philippines when I was a high school student and I really loved parties again because I could enjoy it even we are different nationalities and language, not good English. And then, I thought "Maybe it is better to live abroad than Japan for me".

私的には海外っていうか、東南アジアのノリが大好きで、カンボジアもフィリピンと似たような雰囲気があり、私にとっては気楽に過ごせるところ。

I really love South East Asia, Cambodia and the Philippines are similar. I can spend happily in South East Asia.

東南アジア最高！！！

このパーティーを通して一気にオフィスの皆さんと仲良くなれてとっても嬉しいです=DDD　これからも引き続きインターン頑張っていきます！

I am really happy to make good relationship with my colleagues through the party. I will keep doing my best for the internship!
