Transparency Report - February 2024

Our Approach to Safety

At REALITY, you can break free from the constraints of the real world to become “whoever you want” and express yourself in several ways. 
We have users who actively pursue their dreams and objectives, users who support those giving their best in their activities, users who just want to enjoy a relaxed REALITY lifestyle, and many other forms of becoming whoever you want. 

In order to make REALITY a place where many people can connect and engage in a variety of activities, we believe that it is necessary to make REALITY a safe environment for the community to use. We have been working on various initiatives such as strengthening audits and developing functions to make REALITY safer. On the other hand, we have not disclosed to you our specific efforts and the number of detections to date.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy REALITY with peace of mind, we have decided to launch a Transparency Report this month to disclose the number of issues that have been addressed, our efforts to improve safety, problems reported by users, and our policy for resolving these issues. The Transparency Report will be updated monthly.


Numbers of Cases Handled - February 2024

In February, due to the renewal of the gift and event system, the number of detected fraudulent activities related to events decreased significantly, resulting in a large decrease in penalty counts and account suspensions. Additionally, the impact of the January holidays has passed, leading to a significant decrease in the number of account suspensions for users under the age of 13.

Efforts in February 2024

Regarding event fraud after the renewal of the gift and event system

Since the renewal on February 26th, the number of fraudulent activities detected concerning event fraud has decreased, leading to a significant decrease in reports. However, we have confirmed that "sending gifts through multiple accounts" is being conducted by a small number of accounts. In addition to the measures currently being implemented to combat fraud, we plan to take further action against fraudulent methods after the renewal.
※"Sending gifts through multiple accounts" is determined based on various usage records, regardless of whether the same device is being used.
※Sending gifts from accounts using the same Wi-Fi as the streamer, for example, does not result in penalties as long as it falls within normal usage.

In cases of event fraud, sub-accounts, and disposable accounts without usage records are often used. However, if it is confirmed that they belong to the same user, all accounts, including the main account you primarily use, will be subject to usage restrictions.
We understand that a lot of the violations happen following a mindset of "It's okay to do this because it's a sub-account/alt account", but please be aware that these violations can result in losing your main account that has been cherished for years.
We kindly ask you to review the Terms of Service and Event Rules and refrain from engaging in actions that might result in the suspension of your account.


Regarding the confirmation status of received reports

We would like to explain the current audit implementation status in response to feedback we received stating, "There is no feedback from the staff after we report, so we don't know if it there's any value to the reports."

Reports received from everyone are confirmed by operators unless there are exceptions such as receiving numerous reports from the same account within the same period. If a violation of the terms of service is confirmed, penalties are applied following the criteria. However, it should be noted that penalties are only visible to other accounts in cases of “Temporary Suspension” and “Permanent Suspension” "account suspension" or "permanent account suspension"; so even if a warning is issued, other accounts cannot be aware of it.
Account suspension is imposed in cases of "repeated violations" or "serious violations," with most penalties being limited to warnings. Therefore, it may appear that no penalties have been imposed from other accounts' perspectives, but in reality, as reported in the "Number of Cases Handled" section of this Transparency Report, numerous penalties have been applied.

However, the fact remains that the lack of feedback on the reports received has caused concern among everyone. We will consider providing guidance in the future to address these concerns.
