Key Points to effectively report someone

Providing the 'necessary information' accurately will allow us to handle the report more quickly and appropriately.
To make your report effective, please check the following points.

Is the behavior you are trying to report prohibited by the Terms of Use?

Since what is considered uncomfortable can vary from person to person, REALITY has clear rules about prohibited behavior in its Terms of Use. Acts that are not prohibited by the Terms of Use are generally not subject to penalties.
※The Terms of Use and Community Guidelines are periodically revised to take into account everyone’s usage, social conditions, and other factors.

Have you actually witnessed the behavior that violates the Terms of Use that you're trying to report?

  • Penalties for violations of the Terms of Use are only imposed when the operations team has actually confirmed the violation.

  • If you are not aware of when and where the violation occurred, such as hearing about the violation from an acquaintance, there is a higher likelihood that the operations team will not be able to identify the specific violation (although we will make every effort to do so when receiving a report, we may not be able to review the entire usage history of the reported user).

Are the 'Reported User' and 'Report Reason' selected correctly?

  • The operations team conducts audits based on customer reports, so the 'Reported User' and 'Report Reason' are crucial factors for assessment.

  • Selecting the correct reporting category, such as 'Report Comment' or 'Report Chat,' makes it easier to identify the violation, as it clarifies the scope that needs to be reviewed.

  • On the contrary, if 'Report Profile' is selected when reporting a comment or chat-related issue, it becomes unclear which area needs to be reviewed, making it difficult to identify the violation.

In the input field of the report details page, is specific information like the following provided?

  • The date and time (including the time zone) when the violation occurred.

  • Where in the app the violation occurred.

  • The details of the violation.

  • The target or victim of the violation.

Commonly seen ineffective reports

Reports like the following are occasionally submitted, but they rarely lead to penalties for actual violations of the terms of service, so please be aware.

Reporting the same user multiple times or coordinating with multiple users to report the same person or issue.

  • Reporting a single violation multiple times does not increase the likelihood of penalties or make the penalties more severe.

Reporting incidents in chat by someone other than the involved parties' accounts.

  • Unless reported by the individuals involved, the operations team cannot review the content of the chat.

  • Reports made on behalf of friends or acquaintances, or reports from the same individual through different accounts, cannot be reviewed for chat content, and identifying the violation is not possible.

Reporting inappropriate behavior that occurred outside of REALITY without verifiable evidence.

  • REALITY recognizes that serious violations by REALITY users outside of the REALITY service can pose significant safety risks to the REALITY community. However, addressing actions outside of the service has limitations, and penalties cannot be imposed without sufficient evidence or with evidence that can’t be verified.

  • Reports regarding events outside of REALITY are typically unable to be addressed due to insufficient evidence.

  • When reporting incidents related to events outside of REALITY, providing direct links to posts or content uploaded directly by the user who committed the violation can increase the likelihood of the moderation team being able to respond.

  • For incidents that occur outside of REALITY, please consider consulting the relevant services and public authorities as needed.
