第九作目

祭司は金の錫杖をゆっくりと水平から天に突き、太陽を巡らせ雨を降らす。
豊穣と恵。天から授かりしもの。
サンイグレット家の嫡男は御歳12歳になった。

代々世継ぎが12歳になり、春となると敷地内の礼拝堂で伝統的な儀式が開かれる。

聖騎士の血を継いだ者だけが持てる銀の空洞となった杖から、集まった名門貴族達一人一人に、水を器に注ぐ。
それを飲み干すと、太陽の聖騎士アズバーンから恒久の繁栄を得られるという

「カルニア様、ようこそおいでなさいました。貴方にも変わりなき祝福を」
銀の器に恭しく水を注がれ、カルニアは、ふん、と気に食わないと言わんばかりの顔で睨めつける。
その様な視線を知ってか知らずか、にこりとジェントルは優しく微笑みを返した。

目障りな小僧だ。

サンイグレット家が落ちぶれれば、と願っている貴族達も多い。
国王から多大な権力を与えられている、8の古くから王家に仕えるデューク（公爵）たちの一人が、現当主エルダン・サンイグレットである。
水面下では、その席を狙い、貴族たちの争いが耐えなかった。

儀式は滞りなくしずしずと進む
彼は完璧な身の振る舞いだった。
そして銀の杖を持ち、参加者一堂に一礼すると奥の扉へ退場する。

そして、扉を閉じられると同時に、カラン、と銀の杖を取り落とし、
ふらりとジェントルは身体を傾かせその場に倒れ込んだ

祭司は驚き、倒れた子供を抱き上げる
「大変です、医者を…！はやく…！はやく呼んでください…！！」
騒ぎにならないように声を抑えながら、傍にいた召使い達に言い、直ぐに控えていた医者が…様、…様、と反応を確認するように声を掛けてくる

ああ、また意識を失う。
僕がもう少し、身体が強ければ…
父上も、屋敷の外へと連れて行ってくれるのに…

そして、世界は真っ暗になる。

"......... surely he will bring glory and blessing to the Sunegret Family and to us.

The priest slowly thrusts her golden tin cane from horizontal to heaven, causing the sun to circle and the rain to fall.

If they drink it all up, they will receive perpetual prosperity from the holy knight of the sun, Asbahn.

"Welcome, my Lord Carnia, Blessings to you as well."
The water is poured reverently into the silver bowl, and Carnia stares at him with a look of disapproval on her face.
Knowing or not of such a gaze, Gentle smiled kindly back.

He's an obnoxious little brat.

Many of the nobles are wishing that the Sunegret Family had fallen.
One of the eight ancient dukes of the royal family, who have been given a great deal of power by the king, is the current head of the family, Erdan Sunegret.
Under the surface, the nobles were fighting for their seats.

The ceremony proceeded silently and without delay.
He behaved himself perfectly.
Then, holding a silver staff, he bowed to all the participants and retired to the back door.

As soon as the door was closed, he dropped the silver staff with a clang, and Gentle slumped over and fell to the ground.

The priest, startled, picks up the fallen child.

She keeps her voice down so as not to cause a commotion, she says to the servants who are nearby, and the doctor who is waiting immediately calls out to her to check her reaction, "...Mr...Mr..."

カルニア「まぁいい、サンイグレット家はいずれ我が手中に落ちる」

カルニア「あの倅が消えれば、後継ぎはいなくなるからな…」

カルニア「デュークにふさわしいのはこの私だ、邪魔者には消えてもらおう」

祭司「…よく眠ってらっしゃる…薬が効いているのね」

祭司「こうして昼夜祈り続けていても、この方の悪魔を祓う事ができない…」

祭司「ああ、どうしたらいいのか…」

祭司「…」

祭司「…？」

祭司「あ…」

祭司「これは…」

祭司「…まさか…呪い…？」

祭司「…いえ、もっと…これは恐ろしい……邪悪に引きずり込まれるような……」

祭司「…」

祭司「どうか、…この方をお守り下さい…神よ…」

Gentle "...may the protection and blessings of Azburn be upon you all."

Carnia "...hmmm... Boring, was the rumor that he was physically weak a false rumor? I was told that the ritual would not even be held..."
