英検2級　ライティング予想問題と解答　その1

初めに

英検が迫ってきましたね！ペーパーテストと合わせて、SーCBTも各地で行われています。
大学受験では切っても切れない英検となってきました。
今年度から英検講座を始めましたが、新規の生徒さんを案内できない状況となってしまいましたので、noteで過去の講座から好評の教材を紹介しようと思います。
第1弾はライティング問題です。

問題

Environmental problems are a serious issue. Recently, scientists have discovered that around one million plant and animal species are in danger of dying off. Saving them is possible, but only if we act quickly.
What kind of environmental problems are causing these plants and animals to disappear?
What could you do as a university student in your daily life to help save them? 

【解答例１】

There are two main problems causing plants and animals to disappear.
The first problem is air and water pollution. As people create more pollution in the air and water, plants and animals are dying off because of the effects. Second, as businesses and communities grow, they move into environments that are home to certain plants and animals. This causes plants to die and animals must either move or also die. As a university student, I can make sure to only use transportation that doesn't hurt the environment. I can ride my bike to school instead of riding in a car or a bus. Another thing I can do is make sure I am recycling and not adding to the pollution problem myself. I will also be sure to buy things that do not hurt the environment.

【解答例２】

One major environmental problem is plastic waste that is thrown away. You can see innumerable plastic bottles floating on a nearby river. On the beach you also find it difficult to walk because there are various shapes of Styrofoam washed up. They not only look ugly, but also give fishermen, for example, a headache. Furthermore, those plastic products deteriorate over the years to be broken into tiny pieces. They are microplastics that are eaten
by fish and animals living in water. As a student I think there are many things I can do. For example, every time I buy things, I can use a so-called “eco-bag” instead of a plastic bag. Also, I can actively participate in volunteer activities where I could pick up plastic waste. I could help save those creatures in danger by doing these things which are quite easy to put into practice. 

コメント

環境問題という基本的なテーマですので、思いつくことを書いてみて良いのですが、いざ書いてみると「これはどう表現した方がいいのかな？」と迷うものです。
おすすめは、解答例を何度も読んで、使える表現を「盗む」ことです。
授業でも答案を書き、その場で添削することや、日本語ベースでの解答に盛り込めそうなことを挙げていって議論するスタイルをとっています。
上記の文や表現について解説よりは、ご自分で気に入った表現を取り入れてもらえると良いかと思います。

ポイント

肝心なことは「書ける英語」を書くこと
→決して「書きたい英語」ではない。
