"The smartest person I know"
　＝「私が知っている人の中で一番頭が良い人です」

”smart” =「頭が良い人」
"smartest" =「一番頭が良い（自分の知っている人の中で）」

最上級を表す単語の学習♪

最上級を表す単語は
単語の前に”the”を付けて、
更に単語の後ろに”est”を付ける

◎基本パターン
"the 〇〇est"　

※私の中で一番（唯一）だから”the”を付ける

◎それ以外のパターン
smart - the smartest  (最後が"t"の時は"est"を付けるのみ）
kind - the kindest　(最後が"ｄ"の時は"est"を付けるのみ）
nice - the nicest  (最後の"e" なので、その後ろに”st”を付ける）
safe - the safest ( 　ー”ー　)
funny - the funniest (最後の"y"を取って"iest"を付ける）
pretty - prettiest ( 　－”－　）
big - the biggest (最後の"g"を、もう一つ付けて"gest"を付ける）
hot - hottest((最後の"t"を、もう一つ付けて"test"を付ける）

A. I think your friend Margaret is very smart person I know.
B. She certainly is.
　She's the smartest person I know.

A. 　私が思うに、あなたの友達のマーガレットは凄く頭が良いですね
B.　彼女は本当にそうだね。
　　彼女は（私の知っている中で）一番頭が良いと知っている

”certainly”（さーとぅんりー）　
　＝「もちろん」かしこまりました的な印象？

ちょっとポイント

"She is beautiful.　
　＝「彼女は綺麗だね」に対する答え

LV1.
 "She is. "　＝「彼女綺麗だよ」

LV2.
 "She sure is. "=「彼女はもちろん綺麗」

LV3.
 "She certainly is." =「彼女は本当に綺麗です」

って感じ ^^

※”sure”=「もちろん」”yes”より強い感じ
※"Yes she is." →　"She is." と略してもOK

例題1. ”kind” → "kindest"

A. I think your aunt Emma is very kind.
B. She certainly is, She's the kindest person I know.

A.　私が思うに、あなたの叔母さんのエマさんはとても優しいですね
B.　彼女は本当にそうだね。
　　彼女は私の知っている中で一番優しいのよ

例題2. ”bright” → "brightest "

A. I think your friend Jim is very bright.
B. He certainly is. He's the brightest person I know.

A. 　私が思うに、あなたの友達のジムはとても知識に明るいね
B.　彼女は本当にそうだね。
　　彼は私の知っている中で一番聡明だよ

”brightest”　=「聡明」「明るい」
※聡明＝「聡」は、耳がよく聞こえること、「明」は目がよく見えること
　　　　＝「理解力や判断力が優れている様子」

例題3. ”nice” → "nicest "

A. I think your parents are very nice.
B. They certainly are. They're the nicest people I know.

※複数なので
　"is"　→　”are"
　”person” 「人」　→　”people”「人々」 

A. 　私が思うに、あなたの両親はナイスだね
B.　彼らは本当にそうだね。
　　彼らは私の知っている中で一番ナイスだよ
　　

例題4. ”funny” → "funniest "

A. I think your uncle Ted is very funny.
B. He certainly is. He's the funniest person I know.

A. 　私が思うに、あなたの叔父のテッドさんとても面白いね
B.　彼は本当にそうだね。
　　彼は私の知っている中で一番本当に面白い人だよ
　　

例題9. ”pretty” → "prettiest "

A. I think your sister is very pretty.
B. She certainly is. She's the prettiest person I know.

B.　彼女は本当にそうだね。
　　彼女は私の知っている中で一番可愛いよ
　　

例題6. ”friendly” → "friendliest "

例題7. ”lazy” → "laziest"

A. I think Larry is very lazy.
B. He certainly is. He's the laziest person I know.

　　彼は私の知っている中で一番怠けものだよ

例題8. ”mean” → "meanest"

A. I think your landlord very mean.
B He certainly is. He's the meanest person I know.

※"land" =「土地」　
　"lord" = 「主」　　
　"landlord" =「大家」
※”mean”(みいん）　＝「酷い」

A. 　私が思うに、あなたの大家さんは酷い人だね
B.　彼は本当にそうだね。
　　彼は私の知っている中で一番酷い人だよ

例題9. ”sloppy” → "sloppiest"

A. I think your roommates are very sloppy.
B. They certainly are-. They're the sloppiest people I know.

※"sloppy"(すろっぴー）

A. 　私が思うに、あなたのルームメイトはだらしないね
B.　彼らは本当にそうだね。
　　彼らは私の知っている中で一番だらしない人たちだよ
