(Fred lost his job at the factory / work there)
A: I heard that Fred lost his job a the factory last week.
Is it true?

A： 聞いたんやんやけど、フレッドが工場での仕事なくしたと聴いたけど
それ、マジ？
B： そう、それマジ。。。本当に可愛そうだよ
彼、長い間働いていたのにね

lose -lost -lost 「失う 失った 失ったことがある」

”He is sick now.” ・・・過去の話なら”He got sick"
catch a cold ＝風邪を引く
bad feeling =気分が悪い

He stole their money. ＝「彼は彼らの金を盗んだ」

(Larry and Jane broke up / go together)
A: I heard that Larry and Jane broken up last week.
Is it true?
B: Yes, it is…and it's really a shame.
They had been going together for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、ラリーをジェーンが先週別れたって
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・。
彼ら、長い間一緒にいたのにね。

He cheated on her.「彼は彼女に対した浮気（反則）した」
"find -found - found "「見つける 見つけた 見つけたことがある」

※混乱注意！！
●Dialogue 3
(Mona had to cancel her trip to France / plan it)
A: I heard that Mona had to cancel her trip to France last week.
Is t true?
B: Yes, it is…and it's really a shame.
She had been planning it for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、モナが先週フランス旅行をキャンセルしたって
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼女、長い間企画していたのにね。

「彼女はコロナのせいでキャンセルしました」
って英語にしてみましょう ＾＾
①「彼女は旅行をキャンセルしました」「何故ならコロナのために」
の２文章を作る♪
② 1： "She canceled her trip"
2 ： "because of Corona"
③"She canceled her trip because of Corona."
・Point
◎because of 名詞 で 「～のせいで ～のお陰で」って感じの文章に！
例えば、「なんで今日来たの？」の回答で
"because of you" =「あなたの為に♥」
はたまた「なんで有名になったの？」の回答で
"because of podcast" =「Podcastのお陰で ＾＾」
って使い方ができる

(Pam and Bob canceled their wedding / plan to get marred)
A: I hared that Pam and Bob canceled their wedding last week.

B: Yes, it is…and it's really a shame.
They had been planning to get marred for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、パムとボブが結婚をキャンセルしたって
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼ら、長い間結婚式の準備していたのにね。
・As a side note
”Pam” は ”Pamela”の略
”Bob” は"Rob"になって更に ”Robert”って感じす
・challenge questions １
「彼らの両親が反対したのです」って英語にしてみましょう ＾＾
"Their parents said no." =「両親がNOと言った。」
”Their parents don't like it.” =「両親がそれが好ましくなかった」
"Their parents refused it." ＝「両親がそれを拒否した」
"refused" =「拒否した」
"re" ＝「返す」 ”fuse”＝ラテン語で「注ぐ」
注ぎ変えす ＝ 「拒絶する・断る」
●Dialogue 5
(Mr. and Mrs. Williams moved / live in this neighborhood)
A: I hared that Mr. and Mrs. Williams moved last week.
Is it true?
B: Yes, it is…and it's really a shame.
They had been living in this neighborhood for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、ウイリアム夫妻が先週引っ越したって
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼らは長い間、ご近所に住んでいたのにね。
・Point
neighborhood と neighborの違いは？
・neighborhood =近所（エリアを示している）
・neighbor ＝ご近所さん（近所の人）
例文：
He is my neighbor. ＝「彼は私の近所の人」
近所って意味合いで
He is my next door. =「彼は私のお隣さんです」
※直訳：彼は私の次のドアの人です
って言いかたもある ＾＾
●Dialogue 6
(Walter had another heart attack / feel better)
A: I hared that Walter had another heart attack last week.
Is it true?
B: Yes, it is…and it's really a shame.
He had been feeling better for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、ウォルターさんがまた心臓発作って
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼は長い間、調子よかったのにね。
・Point
”another heart attack”” ＝「別の心臓発作」
※以前も心臓発作があって別の心臓発作・・・って
another ＝別の
heart attack =心臓発作
another は、「もう１つ」とう意味だけはなく
・Can I have another one?
=「もう一つ、貰えますか？」
・Do you need another one?
＝「もう１つ必要ですか？」
といった感じで使える
ちなみに・・・heart break で意味は「失恋」 ＾＾；
「もう１つ」や「また」と似た意味の”next”
意味は【順番通りの「次の」】になるので
今回は使用できない
※順番通りの心臓発作なんて怖すぎる（笑
さらに
似た意味の”again”「再び」なら使用でき
英文にすると
”Walter had heart attack again.”って感じになる ＾＾
●Dialogue 7
(Alex did poorly on his science exam / study for it)
A: I hared that Alex did poorly on his science exam last week.
Is it true?
B: Yes, it is…and it's really a shame.
He had been studying for it for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、アレックス科学の試験がダメ（不完全）だったの
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼は長い間、勉強していたのにね。
poorly =不完全（complete の反対の意味）
●Dialogue 8
(Penny twisted her ankle and couldn't run in the marathon / train for it)
A: I herd that Penny twisted her ankle and couldn't run in the marathon last week. Is it true?
B: Yes, it is… and it's really a shame.
She had been training for it for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、ペニーが足首をひねってマラソン走れなかったのは
それ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼女は長い間、トレーニングしていたのにね。
●Dialogue 9
(You daughter got sick and couldn't perform in her piano recital / rehearse for it)
A: I herd that your daughter got sick and couldn't perform in her piano recital last week. Is it true?

She had been rehearsing for it for a long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、あなたの娘さん体調悪くなってリサイタルで演奏できなかったってそれ本当かい？
Ｂ: そう、本当に可愛そう・・・
彼女は長い間、リハーサルをしていたのにね。
●Dialogue 10
(Herbert caught a cold and couldn't go camping / look forward to it)
A: I herd that Herbert caught a cold and couldn't go camping last week.

He had been looking forward to it for long time.
A： 聞いんだけど、ハーバートは風邪を引いてキャンプできなかったって
それ本当かい？
