This story is a homage to Ultra Seven, Tsuburaya and dedicated to The Youth.

#09 android zero

This also happened in the old town, in the south of the prefecture, in the north of Kanto Region.

Since they saw the beautiful sunset, the Youth members have loved and come to visit this town, AMABE's hometown frequently.
Tonight, they are going to stay at GANKAEN, a hotel that has a long history.
'FURUDA and SOMA are supposed to meet them this evening due to their work of duty. and have just got out of Tatebayashi interchange.
They are driving on the dark riverside road, when something white suddenly appears in front of the headlights.
Suddenly blaking to avoid the danger, FURUDA finds a young blonde lady like a doll standing there.
"Are you MOROBOSHI?" asks the doll.
FURUDA thinks her strange, saying yes.
"I'm glad to see you," says she, offering to shake hands.
As soon as he holds her hand, he gets a strong
electric shock.
SOMA surprisedly gets out, when the woman in white has already disappeared into the dark. 
FURUDA gets well soon due to his physical strength, and talks to the rest about the incident in the hotel.
"She must have aimed at DAN."
"I'm sorry for your having been attacked in place of me."
"But why on earth did she aim at MOROBOSHI kun?"
"There were a strange shaped badge left in his hand," says SOMA, handing in it to KIRIYA.
"Something is written on the flip side, reading ANDROID ZERO.  What does it mean?"
"It may be an alien act."  
"Yet ET radar had no response."
"It's because an android doesn't
respond."
"Anyway, something must be happening."

Ashikaga Gakko, one of the oldest schools in Japan built about 1000 years ago, is famous as a sightseeing spot.
And Bannaji behind the school is a large temple surrounded by a moat, which has a park, a stage square, some stores as well as temple buildings in it, and which is loved by the local people.
SOMA and DAN visit it, when they find a lot of children assembling around an elder gentleman with a black beret on white hair like snow.
There are many toys such as fighter planes, tanks, robots, and guns as kids like in front of the senior.
"Next, a stealth aircraft F117 will attack an osprey V 22."
He sets toy planes on the ground, saying some spell.
Then next momemt, after they wage an air battle like a real fight, one shoots the other down.
A big cheer breaks out from the crowd.
The osprey falls right in front of SOMA and DAN.
They find the badge on its wing.
The old gentleman picks it up, saying, "So much for today.  See you," and leaves as if running away, drawing his rear car with toys on. 
ET radar doesn't respond him.
DAN looks around and finds the same badges on the kids' chests and on the toys in their hands.
"How did you get it?"
"Elderly gave me.  When we got a toy, it is given as a gift."　
They begin to tail him.

The man leaves Bannaji for the Watarase River.
Following him, they pass  the liquor shop on the way, when they see the sign saying OUT OF ORDER on the cigar vending machine near the JR railroad crossing, which alien METRON misused.

He goes over the bank, down to the riverbed, and into the paperboard house below the bridge.
They open the curtain door, only to find a mannequin lying on the earth.
"'Too late, by a mimute."
Dan cannot find anything even through the red glasses.
(MYSTERIOUS.  Where is he?)
AMABE looks into the badge at the hideout, and finds it a receiver which can only receive a certain frequency.
"ANDROID ZERO.  What's its purpose?"
KIRIYA tells the Youth members about the badge function, and to patrol around.

A bar master near Bannaji:
"He's very kind and likes kids."
A boy who they asked about the badge:
"His toys are as cool as if they were real."
A manager of the liquor shop:
"Without noticing, I've come to see him.  He's so good as to greet me."

An elder man and a young woman are talking, playing an arcade game in the game center under the movie theater.
"Time has come when we should start our invasion of the Earth.  Before starting our plan, we have to kill SEVEN, who happens to be here in this town.  So, we must lead HIM to the point K."

SOMA and DAN are driving around, a young blonde lady runs out of the shadwows.
"She must be the lady."
In spite of driving after the running lady, they cannot catch up with her.
Shortly, she enters a department store, Kinka-do, and they also go into the building.

On the first floor, food section and food court, they cannot catch the strange lady in the dark.
Going up the stairs of stationary escalator to the second floor, woman clothing section, they separately search for her.
A lot of vacant-face mannequins in the dark look like ghosts.
They get to the third floor, when a suddenly announcement breaks the silence.
"Could I have your attention, please?   At 0:00 am, the command ANDROID ZERO will be given out.  Wait a little longer, please."
And when they go up to the fourth floor, children goods section, it is announced again.
"Who is it?  What is ANDROID ZERO?"

At the moment, the lights turned on, the old man and the young womam show up.
"I'll tell you about it.  First, frequency to bring the kids into a state of hypnosis is sent out to all the badges.  And the toys are actually real, thou' their functions are turned off, of course.  The badge plays an important role to convey the frequency to kids and to switch the toys into real ones."
"It's impossible!" crys SOMA.
"It's possible.  Wait and see, with a midnight signal, all the toys I has spread will turn real.  And I will be able to mamipulate the hypnotic kids as I like.  The arms they have are more powerful than anything else on the Earth.  Addictionally,  adults cannot attack their kids.  As a result, they will easily and instantly invade not only but also all over the world.  Do you understand ANDROID ZERO?"
"Toys cannot be real," says SOMA. 
"OK, I'll show you."
When the senior begins spelling, the units  of toy tanks and planes starts a volley of shots.
SOMA and DAN escape into the game corner.
But the toy attackers are approaching them.
Then SOMA is attacked by the toy robots.
The moment, DAN wears red glasses and his beam hits both the man and the womam.
The problem hasn't been solved yet.

The announcement repeatedly sounds, "ANDROID ZERO is in effect.  ANDROID ZERO is in effect."
DAN finds the two bodies to be just mannquins, which were manipulated by something.
ET radar shows the mastermind is on the rooftop.
The next moment DAN is also there, and finds alien CHIBULL, a boy who he asked about the badge in Bannaji.
His head begins to become bigger and bigger.
At the same time, more and more armed children are assembling around the alien.
"You cannot attack these kids, can you?"
"Why not?" 
His lightning kife passes through the kids like a snake, and as soon as it hits the swelling head,
The children has come to themselves.

The police, the rescue crew, and the Youth has come up there.
The kids will be transported to hospital.

(Dirty to make ill use of children.   They have a lot of things to do in the future.  Their life has to be protected with every effort.)
"Look!" SOMA pats DAN on the shoulder, pointing from the roof to the east. 
The sun is about to appear from the horizon.
The town that has a beautiful sunset also has a beautiful sunrise.
