Pretia AR Cloud SDK update - 2022 Summer release

Hello developers. This is Sid Wang, Product Manager of Pretia AR Cloud Platform.

Ever since we launched the platform publicly, we have been receiving numerous feedback from all of you. Every feedback is important and we do want to respond to your expectations.

So today I would like to talk about the new features we are bringing to the platform.

3D Scanner - iOS version and new features

This is the number one request among all of the feedback. There are actually quite a few differences between iOS and Android, in terms of data flow, camera, APIs, etc, and finally we overcame most of the barriers and now it’s ready for everyone to try it out.

It is provided through Testflight, you could find the link from the download section in the developer console. If you found any issue with it, please don’t hesitate to share it with us through TestFlight or on Slack.
Along with iOS support, we are also introducing 2 new features: Content Authoring and AR Recording & Playback.

Content Authoring

This is already there in the spring release. The feature allows you to have a live sense regarding the object's size and placement in the environment with a real view. Now it’s a formal feature with a brushed-up UI and more intuitive flow to use.

AR Recording & Playback

This allows you to record an AR session after successful relocalization. The recording contains camera images and poses information, which can be imported to Unity Editor and played back. We believe this will help you to add more context to your environments.

Developer Console - new features and UI brushup

Numerous new features and UI changes had been introduced in the developer console.

  • Team & User Management: We are now not just supporting multiple teams, but also allowing role management. And if you are involved in a few teams, now you may choose which one to be your default one upon login.

  • Map sharing: Once a map is created, you are able to share it not just inside your team, but also with members of a different team.

  • We have a brushed-up interface for the Apps section, it will be easier to navigate the apps if you created many of them.

That’s all for this summer release. We planned to release a few more things in Q3 and Q4, including some exciting samples on the way. Stay tuned!
