言霊2 ｜「お陰さま」

お彼岸ですね。幼少の頃は、墓参りしてから祖母が作ってくれるおはぎを食べるのが楽しみでした。

「婆ちゃん、元気にしちょった？」
「ああ〜おかげさまで元気じゃよ。」

「ええ〜天気じゃねえ！」
「おかげさまでのんた〜」

明治生まれの祖母の日常会話にことごとく出でくる一言が「お陰さま」でした。

「お陰さま」って誰のおかげ？

「おかげさま」を世界共通語へ

今日も元気なのは家族やご近所さんのお陰から、いい日和という自然など自分を取り巻く全てに対する感謝が「お陰さま」という言葉になって出てくるのかなと思います。

敢えて英語にすると"thank you for all"、"thanks for everything"かもしれませんがちょっと無理があります。

日本に長く住み日本人と結婚したアメリカの友人に尋ねたら「英語表現でお陰さまはない」でした。

「活かされている」ことに対する全てへの感謝だと思います。

「見えない力」だからこそ畏敬の念も出る。

この気持ちを忘れずに「おかげさま」と挨拶が交わされている世の中には笑顔で平和な楽しい日々が溢れているのではないでしょうか。

「TSUNAMI」とかではなく

おかげさま

が世界共通語になるように日本から発信していけるように今日から挨拶の語尾に「おかげさま」と付け加えていきませんか？

I did presentation of Shorinji Kempo in front of the students in the Japanese language challenge class at Seattle High School.

I started with Chinkon meditation praying for Japan Tohoku earthquake disaster. For 80min. they practiced with my students paring each other and we showed some demonstration referring six characteristics of Shorinji Kempo.

Lastly, I told them to remember the Japanese word, "Okagesama お陰様" as the most important lesson from our presentation.

It is my passion that "Okagesama" will become more popular Japanese word than "Tsunami" in the world.

I hope some of you agree to spreading this word... then, we will see the peaceful world with a lot of smiles beyond races, country, religion, gender, culture and etc.
