The best coworking book ever published. After several years of travelling the world in pursuit of coworking and the communities that exist there, this Berlin couple have put together a book full of beautiful photographs.

Around the World in 250 Coworking Spaces

It was such a great book that I wanted to read it carefully and share the information and experiences with as many people as possible. So we're starting a series of events later this year where we'll read the book, share the content, and then talk about the insights and countries and regions described in the book.

Let's travel the world with coworking. Coworkers and non-coworkers alike are welcome to attend. This event will be a fun way to experience the changes that are happening around the world through coworking, a community where people gather, communicate and collaborate.

If you have a relaxed mind about how other people think, about foreign cultures, or about travelling, please come and join us.

Many people may think that coworking is about "offices" because the word "space" is often followed by.　Do you also think that only people who work with computers do coworking?　Coworking that happens in a "space" is very narrowly defined.

People come together and communication and collaboration happens. This is the driving force behind the development of humanity as we know it, and it's something that everyone has done, not just special people. It is something that has disappeared from post-modern organisations - "secrecy", "exclusivity", "self-interest first" - but that anyone can regain at any time. And the moment you practice or become aware of coworking, you'll find yourself in an environment where the meaning of work changes and ideas are born.

I met Pauline Roussel and Dimitar Inchev, authors of Around the World in 250 Coworking Spaces, in August 2018. The day after my first visit to Kyonan, I met them near Kaminarimon in Asakusa. We immediately headed to a nearby guesthouse called Chapter Two Tokyo, run by a good friend of the couple, and talked about the history of coworking in Tokyo and Japan, as well as the possibilities of the coworking and co-living experiments that the good friend couple are developing in their guesthouse.

I was delighted the moment I picked up the hefty publication that arrived from Berlin. Not only did I help them with their interviews, but I've also been following their production efforts for the past three years through crowdfunding reports. And even though they've been busy preparing for the publication, they've also been organising online events to connect the global coworking community, which I've occasionally attended as a speaker or audience member.

We want to share their efforts with as many people as possible, so we are organising this event.

I have to admit that I was worried that I wouldn't be able to read this book by myself, as it is very voluminous and in English. A few days after it arrived, there was a monthly online chat by members of the coworking co-operative. We were talking about the excitement of opening the book (which I haven't read yet), the greatness of the contents and the author's epic journey to write it, when it occurred to me that if I couldn't read it alone, we should all read it together.

Chit-chat is also a great way to generate ideas. We can call it 'coworking.' When you act on the information, experiences and feelings you have and want to share them with others, you get feedback and new ideas and guidelines for another action.

This event series will be held with Tomio Ito of Coworking "Cahoots" in Kobe, who is a fellow co-worker of Coworking Cooperative and has been working with us since the early days of Coworking. We look forward to seeing you there.
