I am Ramses Ⅱ.
私はラムセスⅡです。

You pronounce that "Ramses the Second."
あなたたちはラムセス二世と呼びます。

People call me Ramses the Great.
人々はラムセス大王と呼びます。

I like that.
私はそれが好きです。

 I was born more than 3000 years ago in Egypt.
私はエジプトで3000年以上前に生まれました。

I was king of Egypt and I was very powerful.
私はエジプトの王で強い権力をもっていました。

I built temples on the Nile River.
私はナイル川に神殿を建てました。

In front of the main temple, there are four big statues of me.
主な寺の前には、私の４つの大きな像があります。

I like statues of myself.
私は自分自身の像が好きです。

 In the twentieth century, some people built a dam on the Nile River.
20世紀、ナイル川にダムを建設した人々もいた。

The water got higher and higher.
水位は高くなっていきました。

I was afraid my temples would disappear under  the water.
私は、自分の寺が水没するのではないかと思いました。

ラムセス2世について高校時代の英語で習ったということはなんとなく覚えている。あんまり面白くなくて退屈していた感覚さえもあった。むしろラムセス2世の回はつまらなすぎて覚えている。
