Taiji?Taikyoku?(simplified Chinese: 太极 Pinyin: tàijí) is a concept emphasized as the origin of the universe, along with Yin-Yang ideology, in Yi's theory of generation. It was incorporated into Taoism and Confucianism (Song Dynasty and Neo-Confucianism).
十二支は、「子・丑・寅・卯・辰・巳・午・未・申・酉・戌・亥」の12種類からなっている。
十二支は戦国時代（中国）に作られた陰陽五行説よりもはるかに古い起源をもつので、陰陽五行説による説明は後付けであり、占いの道具としての設定にすぎない。
The zodiac is made up of 12 kinds: the cub, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog, and the boar.
The origins of the zodiac are much older than the theory of Yin, Yang and Five Elements, which was created during the Warring States Period (China), so the explanation using the theory of Yin, Yang and Five Elements is an afterthought and is merely a tool for fortune telling.
