“There were a lot of ancient church organs that needed restoration,” he says. “We were able to actually play some of these amazing medieval instruments, and the internal parts (they call them ‘brains’) are incredibly complex pieces of technology. Built centuries ago, these giant machines tackled the same challenges of synthesis, sampling, and sound reproduction that we struggle with today. ”
