Addictive Hamburgers

Once upon a time, there was a locomotive named Megu who was always bustling with activity. Since the development of the steam engine and the emergence of locomotives in this world, Megu found herself tirelessly competing with the large cargo ships, transporting goods to the town upstream by the river. While the cargo ships could carry a multitude of goods at once, Megu, despite her limitations, fervently carried as much cargo, people, and new rumors as she could, repeatedly chugging along day and night.

Nevertheless, there were aspects where Megu couldn't quite compete with the men on the cargo ships. So, day after day, she would burn coal until it turned into a lump as black as a burnt hamburger, speeding north and returning south – a true rampage that could be called an explosive run. It was always at a breakneck speed.

The times were in her favor; the era of the men came to an end. The river froze with winter's cold waves, year after year, making it impossible for the men to advance. The river, like animal fat being licked, didn't budge at all. In such times, men couldn't move goods, people, or even rumors. Yes, it was precisely Megu's time to shine.

Winter's cold and cutting winds meant nothing to Megu because, in those times, she could make her beloved hamburgers. She would create charred, pitch-black hamburgers and speed along in sheer delight. Oh, how exhilarating it must have been.

No one could stop Megu anymore. It was her era. Putting an end to Megu's locomotive rampage was beyond anyone's ability. It was undoubtedly Megu's one-sided victory. With determination, she continued her wild journey, exclaiming, "I could run like this for hundreds of years!" as she exhaled smoke from the sizzling hamburgers.

Yet, even in Megu's triumphant era, a new shadow emerged – the rise of a new technology, electricity. Unfortunately, Megu remained oblivious as she had become a runaway locomotive, lost in her own exploits.

During her rampage, Megu ended up entangled in the wires of a newly constructed electrical tower. It was a truly catastrophic accident, an incident, one that might not have occurred if Megu hadn't been on her wild run. The wires entwined around Megu's neck, almost hoisting her up to the top of the electrical tower.

Despite her simple structure, Megu managed to escape with her life. However, the era of the steam locomotive Megu had come to an end. Megu, who once polluted the beautiful blue sky with black smoke, was no longer needed – just an artifact that only intrigued enthusiasts.

Megu was on the verge of being discarded, but narrowly escaped that fate. She ended up being displayed in a park on a stone pedestal alongside her daughter, a coal vehicle. As Megu reflected, "Was this the right outcome?" she spent her days observing the seasonal changes in the small park. Even though she could never make those hamburgers again, she found solace in the peaceful moments.

The end.
