The Japanese Culture of Shiritori(しりとり)

Hello, this is Mocco. I previously wrote the following article about Japanese culture.

In response to this article, a friend of mine gave me some very interesting and later expanded advice.

So today I'm going to write about Shiritori(しりとり).

Powerful tool for learning Japanese.

For me, Shiritori was considered to be one of the "fun games" with children.
On the other hand, what I realized again after reading this article is that it is a wonderful tool to learn a language.
The rules are simple (the person who says the last word with a "ん" in Japanese loses) and can be done without any preparation.
As a game, it is fun to tease your opponent by making him keep saying words that start with the same word.

Apps that can be played online

The app that my friend showed me above seems to be available in both English and Japanese. Why don't you give it a try?

I was fortunate enough to find a friend who was willing to play the English version online with me, and we played the game twice.

The first play

The interesting thing about this app is that the other person can't see the words, but guesses them by looking at the pictures, and then connects the next word.

In other words, you are required to have not only English skills, but also a good drawing ability.

In my turn, I had to write a word starting with R, but I couldn't think of any. In hindsight, I should have made it a rocket...

Second play.

Today we had more players and played a game with four players. It was very exciting.

I couldn't make the connection from the tooth, to the gorilla, to the dog...
But I understood the dog!

We had a great time. I look forward to playing it again.

By the way, I was a cheat the second time I attended.

Still, I struggled to draw the ghosts. OH MY GOD!

I want an artistic mind.

Thank you again for reading my article today. Here are some of the past English articles.
