Diplomatic documents released by the South Korean Foreign Ministry on March 6 reveal that when the late Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (formerly the United Church), visited Japan in March 1992, he was originally not allowed to enter Japan because of his prison sentence in the United States, but then LDP Vice president Makoto Kanemaru arranged for him to receive a special permit. The deep relationship between the political world and the cult revealed in diplomatic records from 30 years ago.
1992年3月に世界平和統一家庭連合（旧統一教会）の創設者文鮮明氏（故人）が来日した際、米国で実刑判決を受けて本来は日本に入国できないのに、金丸信自民党副総裁（当時）が便宜を図り特別に許可されていた経緯が、韓国外務省が6日公開した外交文書で分かった。政界と教団との深い関係が30年前の外交記録からも浮かび上がった。
According to the document, the Ministry of Justice initially tried to deny Moon entry into Japan. However, because Mr. kanemaru guaranteed his identity and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not object, ha was allowed to enter the country. The South Korea embassy said the information was obtained through an informal request to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
文書によると、法務省は当初、文氏の入国を拒否しようとした。だが金丸氏が身元を保証した上、外務省も異論を示さなかったため、入国が許可されたという。韓国大使館が日本外務省に非公式に問い合わせた情報としている。
