MiNO WARS(Axie InfinityV2 final season)Translation: Backs

Hi, I'm Mino.🌸
Are you guys playing Axie Infinity?

I just finished the last V2 season of Axie Infinity!
I think the final season was the most competitive season.
In the midst of all this,I was able to finish the season in the Leaderboard (6th in the world), which was something I long dreamed of.

※This article is intended for those who have either played Axie Infinity V2 or have played competitive games. It touches on a lot of personal circumstances, so it is not a good read for those who are not interested.

Why I decided to translate this article into English.

Do you play games just to make money?
Do you play games just for fun?
Or do you play games with passion like I do?
When you work on things with passion your narrative will start.
As I played in the higher ranks, I felt a certain passion from my opponents as well.
I wanted to share my experience with those who played with such passion and also with the people at SkyMavis who run this game.
I hope you enjoy reading it.

#1  Why I had to be on the Leaderboard.

Incomplete last season.

I stopped playing Axie Infinity in the middle of S20.
The reason was that I was too busy and also couldn't prepare a good team
Meanwhile I saw de-hi, zannzaki, naonaopon, and YUU playing seriously on the last day, and I thought that I could have found a way out of that situation, and I regretted it very much.

Proof to the Community

I was able to join ForN/YGGJ(a gaming guild in Japan) through playing games.
In my first season (S19), I started well but could not stay on the Leaderboard.
In S20, I stopped playing and couldn’t even go up to the top 100.
In spite of such a situation, Mr. Ryu lent me strong Axie teams which was the next best team after Mr. de-hi and Mr. Zanzaki.
So I knew I had to get results in the last season.

Proof to myself

I was a person who really lacked the ability to concentrate on things that did not interest me.From that, I sometimes had problems with not being able to do my job well.
Therefore,I wanted to get results in my favorite "strategy game"!

The higher the rating in Axie Infinity, the more painful it is to play. I thought that if I could endure this pain and make it to the top 100 of the world's serious players, I would be proud of myself. This is an opportunity that doesn't come along often. Even If I don't reach my goals, I know my limits and can give up.

To keep my promise

I was able to engage with a lot of people by playing Axie Infinity.
It was Mr 💩man who first found me and lent me his expensive Axies for free.
I promised him "I will definitely get on the leaderboard (top 100)"
but for two seasons I couldn't. This was my last season and my last chance.

I needed to get a result no matter what.

#2 My own Axie Infinity V2 theory

Competitiveness and luck factor

There is an element of luck in Axie Infinity.
However, the more times you play the game, the less luck you will have and the more your ability will be reflected in the rankings.
Personally, I believe that a competitive game is not fun unless there is some element of luck.
Therefore, Axie Infinity is the most fun game for me.

Axie Infinity V2 is a fighting game.

Axie Infinity is similar to a fighting game. (I have no fighting game experience).
You have to understand your team well and work out the countermeasures against the trendy and strong teams.
As you become more proficient, you will be able to find a route to win even against unusual teams that you have never seen before.

However, this process of figuring out and improving your playing skills is very time consuming and painful. It is necessary to go over and over and over again, making corrections and attempts.

In such a situation, there are also unreasonable critical losses.
I think every player has experienced this.

It is sometimes painful to play Axie Infinity.

Trends and Measures

Axie Infinity has different strong teams at different rates. A weak team at a lower rate may be strong at a higher rate. The first step is to find out how to counter strong teams. If the win rate is still less than 60%, it means that the team is not in the right environment.

On the other hand, the meta changes frequently at higher rates.
The meta changes rapidly at the highest level, and the teams that are most likely to win change from hour to hour.
This frequent meta change was the key to the S21 strategy.

#3 S21 StrategyⅠ (Tough World)

S21 was the toughest season in Axie Infinity's history due to a variety of factors.

With each season, players understanding of the game deepened.
The price of strong Axies dropped, and everyone was able to build a strong team to battle in the higher rates. As a result, Axie Infinity, with its large community, had a great last season!

I believe that this was the most competitive BCG that has broken through the pay to win barrier.

#4 S21 StrategyⅡ (community called KATSUDON)

The most significant factor in my success was joining a guild called KATUSDON, run by Mr. KATUTARO.

The characteristic of KATUSDON is that they are quick to take action after deciding on a policy.
led by Mr. KATUTARO, Mr. RYU, and Mr. OMOCHI,  investing in various BCGs, managing scholarships, and so on.

Also Mr.Ryu, the breeder, takes the lead in meetings with the members of the division, and develops strong individuals and lends Axies to the members.

About 20 players were active this quarter, including international player Poxi.
On Discord, there were at least 3-4 players, led by Mr.de-hi, exchanging opinions about Axie Infinity every day.
This was a truly wonderful experience for me.

I used Mr.de-hi's team and Mr.zanzaki's team (I must have contributed a little to the development of the team lol).

I spent the season helping each other with the team members.
Especially with Mr. Zanzaki, I was able to have a deep exchange of opinions since we were using the same team.
The competition and exchange of opinions within the community helped me improve at a very fast pace.

#5 S21 strategyⅢ (last day strategy)

Then came the last day (24 hours before the end).
My ranking was in the 100th place.

The team used was a team designed by Mr.Zanzaki.
mainly using reptile lunge and energy destroying cards.placing lunge aqua at the back.

zannzakimodel, dehidebtmodel, outgoingintm

This team was able to keep a stable winning percentage even at higher rates with frequent meta changes. During times when there were many teams of the type that used mechs in the back, there was a possibility of a big win.

Based on this situation and my previous playing experience, my strategy was

“From the evening of the previous day (18:00)
I would keep playing for 24 hours, and if I got lucky in a match, or if the environment was favorable, I would win more matches. Then stop playing once I am in a safe zone.”

And on the last day, there was a player who was probably using the same strategy.
It was everyone's favorite, Mr. de-hi.

#6 S21 strategyⅣ (man named de-hi)

de-hi
BCG top player🇯🇵 belong to Lev0x/KATSUDON
Strategist Youtuber (Axie Infinity.etc)
Axie InfinityV2 S19 4th/S20 13th🏅
LOOT Squad Showdown 3th🥇

de-hi was the first player I contacted when I started Axie Infinity. I remember he was very kind to me from the beginning.
Now I have actually met him and we have become friends.

What surprised me this season was his approach to the community.
Since last season, de-hi has said in interviews that he wanted to form a Japanese guild so that everyone could work together and compete with each other.
This season, de-hi actually spent more than 10 hours a day, sometimes more, watching everyone's games and giving them advice.

I have been saved many times myself.
I sometimes send messages saying “I’m stuck” lol.

In fact, the front lane Axie I used on the last day, "the one who inherits the will of D" was purchased with a loan from de-hi.(Repayment is done.)

  message from Mr.BLUE👇.

(He provided personal guidance to all the trainees to help them achieve their goals (ranking 3000+). Everyone's team was unique, and he had a good grasp of the team's characteristics and exactly how to make them stronger.

Furthermore, he taught the players to make the most of their individuality and compensate for their weaknesses.

As a result, almost all trainees became a part of Katsudon. And they were able to compete convincingly in the last season of V2.

Making the strong stronger, bringing up many weak people to become strong, and improving himself.
Mr.Dehi proved that he has established a theory that is universally applicable not only to his own team, but to all teams and players.
He truly captured the essence of Axie InfinityV2

It transcended language barriers and attracted international players as well.
Cutting down his own playing time and sleeping hours and dedicating himself to others was more difficult than he imagined, and not everyone could have done it. Nevertheless, he maintained this attitude to the end and was a source of pride for the Katsudon players.)

While giving advice to everyone, de-hi always kept his own team in the top 100.
If the tier of the team I used this season was S-rank, de-hi's team was about A-rank. Moreover, it is a very difficult team to play.
It was amazing that he was able to maintain a high rank.

Mr. de-hi seemed to take pride in fighting to the end with the team he created.

And on the day before the final day, Mr.de-hi said

”I'll get the leaderboard with my current team, but I won't be able to get to the top 10 ranking. I'll throw away my pride (to play on a team of his own design) and use the lunge team.

With the help of his guild members (Mr. Blue and Mr. Ryu), he started to try out two new teams.

When playing Axie Infinity, you need to know your team well and take time to find out the countermeasures against the trendy and strong teams. I think this decision was very difficult at the end of the season.

But now I understand a bit about how Mr.de-hi feels.
I believe that for him, it was true pride to give up his pride.

#7 S21 strategyⅤ (last day strategy)

I had a strategy to keep playing for 24 hours on the last day and was going back and forth between 20th and 100th place. Somehow I forgot that my goal was to finish in the top 100.

If I reached the 20th place, I would have achieved my goal.
I could have stopped playing, but I wanted to win more.
It was too wonderful to be able to play the game in such a tense atmosphere!
I was very excited while playing!

Then, about 22 hours after the start, I felt the situation change.

The Dusk teams, which were a bad match for me, disappeared, and the Mecha teams, which were a counter to the Dusk teams, started to increase.
Normally, after one game, I would take a break for a few minutes and then play.
But after the experience I had had so far, I felt like, "I have to do it now!" So I continued to play without a break.
As a result, I was able to climb to 7th place.
I didn't even check the leaderboard for the last 10 matches

When I reached 7th place and thought my top 10 ranking would be secure, I suddenly felt a loss of concentration.
I told everyone around me that I was quitting for the season.
Then Mr. zannzaki said, "Good job! You did a great job.amazing!." I remember feeling relieved and that it was okay to stop playing Axie Infinity.

#8 Summary

I finished the season in 6th place, but I was more sad than happy.

I felt the loneliness of the end of V2, and the wish that de-hi, Zanzaki, and I could have been on the board side by side!

I will try to do it again next time somewhere else.

It is not easy for ordinary people to play 24 hours a day on weekdays.
The two of them are better at playing the game than I am. But I believe that I have decent endurance and persistence.
This is another way to win the meta-game.

#9 Lastly

I achieved my goal to reach the top 10 on the leaderboard but I still want to win!
V2 may be over, but that doesn't mean the people and community involved are gone.

After Season 21

After the last season of Axie Infinity, "V2 Thank You Tournament" was held by Guild Katsudon.
This is a tournament among guild members who know each other's moves.
There were 6 players with TOP100 experience.

I played against Mr.de-hi on the day after the end of the season.
Mr. de-hi had overwhelming ability and popularity, but he could not leave any result this season. It was a matchup against him.
I thought de-hi was going to win, but I went all out to win.

The result was a 2-1 victory for Mr.de-hi.

It was a heated match, starting with the decision of which team to use.
(We both knew to look at the other's inventory and take last-minute countermeasures. That's why we both had someone we knew to send Axies  just before the game started.)

It was really frustrating to realize that I am still no match for Mr.de-hi's ability.
However, this match made me feel that I could become even more competitive.

"V2 Thank You Tournament" in KATSUDON! It's over!
I won! I beat @mino_axie!
So you're sure I'm #6 in the world, right?
I felt so accomplished and rewarded.
Thank you so much to everyone at KATSUDON.

Congratulations, de-hi!
