Why don’t they sell banana juice in Cebu?

It passed one week since I came to Cebu for studying English. I am really satisfied with this living environment, weather, food in Mandaue City in Cebu. In contrast, there are some points which I think if it could come true, it would be more awesome. One of the points is to sell ‘fresh banana juice’.

I love fresh banana juice, which means the juice made by blender with raw bananas, milk or soy milk and some toppings, and made at the time I purchase. My most favorite topping is spinach because it sounds healthier than the others.

I have my favorite banana juice shop in Higashi-Ginza, Japan. (Twitter @banana5144)
To tell the truth, I got fresh banana juice-sick...that's why I wrote this essay.

As same as another southern country, fruits in Cebu, like mango, banana are so sweet and amazingly delicious, and also cheap. What high-cost performer they are! (In Japan, there are few lands food for growing fruits, therefore, fruits are expensive compared to vegetables.)
On the other hand, I noticed that there are few shops selling banana juice.

Why don’t they sell banana juice in Cebu? There are many superiorities in Cebu.
First, the bananas. The bananas made in Philippine are easy to get and suitable for banana juice because they’re soft and sweet.
Second, the weather. Philippine is located near the equator, that means there is little climate change and always summer. Hot summer and banana juice have a good chemistry.
Thirdly, the business model. Banana juice shop is easy and can be started from small. It needs small space to keep few staffs and today’s ingredients only. We don’t have to a huge investment for the first time. Correspondingly, the way of how to make it is easy. Put the ingredients into the blender and blend. That’s it.

In Japan, the fresh banana juice is something luxury food and it’s sold around 700 yen, which equals to 350 pesos.
If you could sell banana juice under 300 pesos, tourists (Japanese tourists at least) thinks it’s cheap and willingly buys it.

Although having said that, I think there might be some reasons why banana juice shops are not common in Cebu.
I come up with four hypotheses.
1: the Philippines don’t like sweet drinks. That’s why Philippine is one of the countries which drinks coffee a lot.
2: Fridge is highly expensive. To storage ices, fridge must be necessary, but it’s not easy to get it.
3. Preparing milk is difficult. I noticed that there are few menus which are used dairy products. The temperature in Philippine is always high so that milk might be expensive.
4. Preparing sustainable electric power is difficult. To keep tuning on the fridge and blender, electric power is inevitable.

In addition to that, I found serious problems: Luck up leaf vegetables.
If we could open banana shop, it should have topping menu also so that customers choose to top such as spinach, sesame, kinako, acai, Shishido etc.
Therefore, I go to a supermarket to research for which topping is available in Cebu, but there are no spinaches….
Thus, if we want to start banana juice shop, we should start by growing spinaches.
