英語の勉強 恥ずかしのクリスマスカード【How come I didn't get a Christmas card?】

今日もサインフェルドの中での会話です。
季節外れですがクリスマスカードの話でございます。

クレーマーがエレインのクリスマスカードに載せる写真を撮る事になりましたが、写ってはいけないもの(nipple)が写ってしまったようです。。

英語版

ジェリーのアパート

ジェリー： Look at what we have here. Christmas card from Elaine. You didn’t have to go to all that trouble.
エレイン： It was no trouble. My assistant did the whole thing.
ジェリー： I didn’t even see the picture. How did it come out?
エレイン： Well, you know. It’s a picture?
ジェリー： Oh, look at that. Looks good. Kramer did a good job.
エレイン： Yeah, well. How hard is it to take a picture?
ジェリー： umm.
エレイン： What?
ジェリー：　Did you look at this picture carefully?
エレイン： Carefully?
ジェリー： Because I’m not sure and correct me if I’m wrong but I think I see a nipple.
エレイン： What?
ジェリー： Here. Take a look. What, what is that?
エレイン： Oh my God. That’s my nipple!
ジェリー： That’s what I thought.
エレイン： That’s my nipple. My nipple’s exposed. I sent this card to hundreds of people! My parent. My boss. Oh , Nana and Papa.
ジェリー： Didn’t you look at the picture?
エレイン： Oh my God. I didn’t notice. Oh , what am I going to do? You know your whole life you go through painstaking efforts to hide your nipple and then boom, suddenly hundreds of people get their own personal shot of it.

クレーマーが入ってくる。

クレーマー： Hey!
エレイン： Have you seen the card?
クレーマー： What card?
エレイン： This card.
クレーマー： Yeah, yeah, of course. I took it.
エレイン： Well did you notice anything unusual about it?
クレーマー： No.
エレイン： Well come here and take a look.
クレーマー： Yeah, so?
エレイン： So, what’s that?
クレーマー： That’s a nipple.
エレイン： Right!
クレーマー： Oooo.
エレイン： Oh, great. Didn’t you see that?
クレーマー： No, no. I didn’t notice it. No.
エレイン： It’s because you made me wear that stupid shirt.
ジェリー： Well, maybe no one noticed it. You didn’t notice it. Let me go Newman. We’ll see if he sees it.
エレイン： No. I don’t want him looking.
ジェリー： Oh, what’s the difference. Everybody else you know has it.
エレイン： Oh, my God. I sent one to the super in my building. My mailman. My ten year old little nephew. Sister Mary Catherine. Father Chelios. Oh my God Fred. I sent one to Fred.

ニューマンが入ってくる。

ニューマン： OK, what is it?
ジェリー： Take a look at this card. Tell me if you notice anything unusual about it.
ニューマン： Your nipple’s showing.
ジェリー： OK, thanks.
ニューマン： Anything else?
ジェリー： No.
ニューマン： All right, see you later.
ジェリー： What? So what? It’s a nipple. A little round circular protuberance. What’s the big deal? See everybody’s got them. See what I got them.
クレーマー： I got them too.
ジェリー： Everybody’s got them.

ジョージとエレインとジェリー

ジョージ: Hey. How come I didn't get a Christmas card? Everybody else got one. Jerry got one, Kramer got one. I thought we were good friends. I don't get a Christmas card. I don't get it.

エレイン: You want a Christmas card? You want a Christmas card? All right, here.  Here's your Christmas card.

ジェリーのアパート

ジェリー：　エレインからクリスマスカードだ。手配するの面倒だったろ？
エレイン： 面倒じゃないわ。アシスタントがやってくれたの。
ジェリー： 写真すら見てない。出来はどうかな。
エレイン： 単なる写真でしょ。
ジェリー： クレーマーが上手に撮ってるな。
エレイン：　写真なんて簡単でしょ。
ジェリー： うーん
エレイン： どうしたの？
ジェリー：　この写真、じっくり見たか？
エレイン： じっくりって？
ジェリー： 間違ってたら、ごめんだけど、乳首が見えてる。
エレイン： 何？
ジェリー：　見てみろよ。これ何？
エレイン： 乳首だわ。
ジェリー： 俺もそう思った。
エレイン： 私の乳首だわ。乳首が見えてる。このクリスマスカード、百人くらいに送ったわ。両親、上司、ナナにパパ。
ジェリー： 写真を見なかったのか？
エレイン：気づかなかったの。どうすればいい？乳首を隠すに人生をささげてたのに！突然、たくさんの人に見せちゃったわ。

クレーマーが入ってくる。

クレーマー： よう！
エレイン： カード見た？
クレーマー： なんのカード？
エレイン： このカード。
クレーマー： 当たり前だろ。写真撮ったのは俺だからな。
エレイン： なんか気づかない？
クレーマー： いや。
エレイン： よく見てよ。
クレーマー： だから。。
エレイン： これ何よ？
クレーマー： 乳首
エレイン： 正解。
クレーマー： やばい。
エレイン： 見てなかったの？
クレーマー： 全く気づかなかった。
エレイン： あなたが変な服を着せたせいよ。
ジェリー： 多分誰も気づかないよ。お前も気づかなかったんだ。ニューマンに見てもらおう。
エレイン： ニューマンに見てほしくないわ。
ジェリー： もう一緒だろ。みんな持ってるんだから。
エレイン： ビルの管理人さんにも出した。１０歳の甥にも。シスターのマリーキャサリンにも送った。神父のチャリオスさんにも。フレッドにも送っちゃった。

ニューマンが入ってくる。

ニューマン： 何か用か？
ジェリー： このカードを見て、変なところがあったら言え。
ニューマン： エレインの乳首が見えている。
ジェリー： あ、そう。
ニューマン： 他には？
ジェリー： 用はない。
ニューマン： また後でな。
ジェリー： だから何だよ。単なる小さくて丸い円形の突起物じゃん。みんな持ってる。見ろよ。
クレーマー： 俺も持ってる。
ジェリー： みんな持ってるよ。

ジョージとエレインとジェリー

ジョージ:なんで俺だけクリスマスカードが来てない？他の奴はみんなもらってるのに。ジェリーもクレーマーももらってる。俺は良い友達と思ってたのに。なんでだ？ 

エレイン: クリスマスカードが欲しいの？ならあげるわ！

ジョージがHow come I didn't get a Christmas card?と言いますが、how come  はよく使いますよね。whyと同じ意味です。How come の方がそのまま文章を入れるだけなんで使いやすいですよね。
