6/22/24 - Boys’ school

Today, I watched a news program at noon and became interested in the topic of a famous public high school in Saitama called "Urawa High School." 

I had known the public high school was a prestigious one. However, I was surprised to learn it was a boys' school. The news was about whether or not the school should become co-ed. 

There are cons and pros to this issue. It doesn't matter to me personally, but I became curious. I only hope that boys will grow up to respect women, regardless of the kind of school they graduated from.

P.S. きょうお昼のニュースで埼玉県の浦和高校の共学化 (become co-ed) をめぐってのニュースを観ました。有名な進学校なので名前は以前から知っていましたが、男子校だとは知りませんでした。（公立の男子校って珍しい気がしていたので。）

共学化に対して賛否両論もあると思いますし、私個人としては当事者ではないのでどうこう言う筋合いでもないのですが、共学しか経験のない私にとっては少し面白いニュースだなと思いました。ただ、どのような種類の学校を卒業したかとは関係なく、男の子は女性にきちんと敬意を払える男性に育ってほしいと願うばかりです。（でも学校よりも親の育て方かもしれませんね…。）

→「prestigious」は「名声のある」や「一流の」という形容詞。
