5/27/24 - Nothing is perfect

Last night, I read some reviews about the textbooks of NHK's radio programs out of curiosity on the Amazon website. Some people wrote critical reviews that sounded almost like complaints.

Although I understand some perspectives of their opinions, I think that we need to know it's impossible to make "perfect" textbooks or be "perfect" teachers to satisfy "each" learner. When we find them unsuitable, we can stop studying with them. Nobody forces us to stick to them. Many other options are available nowadays.

Also, I think there is something we can learn from even with unsatisfying textbooks or teachers. After all, they are simply tools for studying. How we use such tools depends on us.

P.S. 昨夜NHKの語学番組のアマゾンでのレビューを読んでいたところ、いくつか批判 (critical) のようなレビューがありました。学習者ひとりひとり、好き嫌い、ニーズ、相性のようなものありますし、完璧な教材や完璧な教師は存在しません。あくまで「個人の意見」なのでしょうが、レビューとしては少し大人げないような気がしました…。

現在世の中にはたくさん勉強する方法はあるので、自分に合わなけば (unsuitable) さっさと止めて他の勉強方法を探すことはそう難しくはありません。私は今回は自分のレベルに合いそうな内容なのでテキストを買って勉強していますが、それでも多少不満な部分はあります。（とういうか、私個人がついていけてなかったり、好みの問題だけですが…）教材や教師が不満足なもの (unsatisfying) であっても何か学べる部分は必ずあると思うので、私としては、そういう部分だけ「良いとこ取り」（？）して吸収していこうと思っています…。
