The Sacrifice of Isaac
イサクを神のいけにえに捧げる

GENESIS 22
創世記第22章

After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.” And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.
これらのあと、神はアブラハムを試して言った「アブラハムや！」「ここにいます」神「愛する息子のイサクを連れてモリヤの地に行き、私が言う山のひとつの上で息子を、焼いた捧げものとしなさい」。そこでアブラハムは朝早く起きて、ロバに乗り、手下ふたりとイサクを連れて、燃やすための木を切って、神が言った場所へ行った。三日目に見上げると遠くにその場所が見えた。手下に言った「ロバとここにいろ。わしと息子はあそこで礼拝して戻ってくる」アブラハムは木をイサクに載せて、自分は火とナイフを持って、一緒に歩いた。イサクが言った「おやじ！」「ここだよ」「火と木はあるけど、焼く子羊はどこ？」アブラハム「たぶん神がくれるはずだよきっと」そして一緒に歩いた。

【コメント】
もうすでに承知のとおり、無理難題をつきつけるのが神です。そして人生とはまさにそういうものなので、何も不思議ではないですね。ただ、それを従順に受け入れるかどうかを試しているのかもしれません。もちろん神としては、受け入れろということです。理由は、それが人生だから。

When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”
神の言った場所に到着すると、アブラハムは祭壇を作り、木を並べイサクを縛り祭壇に置いた。息子を殺そうとナイフに手をのばしたとき、空から天使が呼ぶ声がした「アブラハム！」「ここです」「その子に手をかけないで、そなたは神をちゃんと畏れている、自分の息子でさえためらうことはなかった」アブラハムは顔を上げ仰ぎ見た。茂みに牡羊が角でつなげられていた。息子の代わりに牡羊を焼いて捧げた。そこでアブラハムはその場所をヤーウェ・イエル（神は与える）と呼んだ。今日まで「神の山にて、与えられん（イエラエ）」と伝わる。

【コメント】
神、すなわち人生に文句を言ってはいけない。どんな運命も受け入れることが大事だ、というふうに解釈することができる。難しいよね。難しいから意味があるともいえる。それが真理なのかどうか、筆者（お化け）にはもちろん分からない。ギリギリで神は与えるという思想が見える。

And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham lived at Beersheba.
天使がふたたび呼びかけた「神は誓われた、唯一の息子イサクを捧げたので、そなたを祝福し、子孫を星の如く砂の如く増やそうと。子孫は敵の門を奪い、国は栄えることになろう。そなたは神の声に従ったのだからと」アブラハムは手下のもとへ戻り、ベエル・シェバに戻ってそこに住んだ。

【コメント】
ここは天使じゃなくて神が直接語りかけても良さそうなくだりだが、やはりまだ役割分担がよく見えないね。敵の門を奪い（所有し）は、何となく聖書っぽいフレーズだなーという個人的なイメージ。戦争により国を拡大させることはもはやこの地では当然という感覚をみる。

Now after these things it was told to Abraham, “Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.” (Bethuel fathered Rebekah.) These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother. Moreover, his concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
これらのあと、アブラハムは知った。ミルカとナホル（アブラハムの兄弟）には、ウツ、ブズ、ケムエル（アラムの父）、ケセド、ハゾ、ピルダシュ、イドラフ、ベトエル（リベカの父）の8人が生まれた。また妾（第二夫人）のレウマは、テバ、ガハム、タハシュ、マアカを生んだ。

【コメント】
誰やねん、と思ったが、第11章にあった、アブラハムから見て甥や姪にあたる家系も増えていったよ、というこののようだ。ここでも一夫多妻は間違いなくあったことが分かる。今回は全体として、神の意思とは何かが少し分かった気がしました。次回第23章！
